Star Trek: Strange New Worlds should bring back an iconic hero as their next major villainy

As a longtime Star Trek enthusiast who has followed the franchise since its earliest days, I must admit that the prospect of seeing Captain Jonathan Archer return to the small screen is nothing short of exhilarating. However, it’s not just about nostalgia; it’s about the potential for a captivating narrative that could elevate Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to new heights.

For quite some time now, numerous fans, including us, have penned multiple articles expressing our desire to see certain characters reappear in the series. Given the multitude of storylines, time periods, and characters at our disposal, it can be quite captivating to envision different combinations. Nevertheless, not every character is suited for every show.

In contrast to some roles being versatile across various series, certain characters perform optimally in specific TV shows rather than others. With just two Star Trek productions confirmed to continue airing post-New Year’s Day, the possibilities for which characters can suitably fit within these shows gradually narrow and sharpen.

Fortunately, it seems that the ideal figure to reprise his role suits Star Trek: Strange New Worlds exceptionally well – we’re talking about Jonathan Archer, a character iconically portrayed by Scott Bakula. The potential comeback of this character would undeniably create a significant impact on the series and the fandom. However, one could speculate that Bakula might not be returning to the franchise through Strange New Worlds with a hero’s role, but perhaps in an unexpected capacity instead.

Absolutely! The Star Trek: Enterprise series is most similar to Strange New Worlds in terms of the timeline, but Captain Christopher Pike from Strange New Worlds and Captain Archer from Enterprise are remarkably distinct individuals. They’re so different that they could potentially play opposing roles, acting as antagonists towards each other, or even one being portrayed as a villain.

As a gamer, I’m often recognized for my bold, headstrong demeanor and rebellious spirit, which has always seemed to steer me towards the role of a villain in any given scenario. During my time on the starship Enterprise, I encountered a mysterious figure from the future, whose identity remained shrouded in secrecy. The crew would speculate who this enigmatic character might be, and in an unexpected twist, it was revealed that he was none other than myself – a mind-blowing revelation for all involved!

In an alternate scenario, it seems probable that Archer would have encountered his own future self, with the aim of averting his descent into darkness. However, due to the storyline remaining unfinished, we can only speculate about its conclusion. Why not introduce Archer’s dark future self as a time-traveling character to face off against Pike instead?

You might introduce Archer to the Enterprise during that season, either by time-traveling him there or having him arrive in his original form from the future. He can assist, save the day, and win over the new crew. However, it is later unveiled that he’s actually the ominous future version of himself.

Is it possible that this scenario is an alternate reality or a future timeline where Captain Archer has taken a different course, be it a mirror universe variation (though not exactly like the Mirror Universe due to certain specific circumstances) or simply the original Archer who’s experienced some major setbacks? Or perhaps it’s the original Archer who’s undergone a drastic change. The possibilities are limitless and could offer Strange New Worlds seasons that would outshine their past achievements for years to come.
