Zenith recently launched the Chronomaster Revival A384 Tropical, a meticulously crafted watch that honors the original automatic, high-frequency chronograph movement. This new timepiece blends the classic, compact design of the 1960s with a modern El Primero 400 movement, offering both a vintage look and reliable, contemporary performance.
The A384 Tropical watch is powered by the El Primero 400 calibre, a high-frequency movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. This complex mechanism, made up of 278 parts, allows for precise timing to the nearest tenth of a second and offers a 50-hour power reserve. Unlike the original model’s solid steel back, this version features a clear sapphire case back, showcasing the movement’s intricate design, including a rotor shaped like Zenith’s star logo.
The watch features a 37mm case, accurately recreating the design first seen in 1969, including its distinctive pushers and a blend of brushed and polished stainless steel. The dial has a “chocolate panda” look, with brown sub-dials that resemble the aged patina of vintage watches. To improve visibility in dim light, the markers and hands are rhodium-plated and coated with Super-LumiNova, giving them a warm, vintage-like glow while remaining highly functional.
Building on its history of quality craftsmanship, the watch features the classic “ladder” bracelet, first created by Gay Frères in 1969. Made from lightweight stainless steel, this bracelet enhances the watch’s authentic design while providing a comfortable and flexible fit. It’s also water-resistant up to 50 meters, making it both durable and a tribute to classic watchmaking.
You can now purchase the Chronomaster Revival A384 Tropical at Zenith stores, through authorized retailers, or on the Zenith website.
