Martin Lewis, the well-known British financial journalist and television presenter, will receive a special BAFTA Television Award on May 10, 2026. The award recognizes his influential work helping people with their money.
Martin Lewis, host of the popular ITV show The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, will receive a special achievement award from BAFTA. The award recognizes his significant and ongoing positive influence on people’s finances and British society.
The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, originally called The Martin Lewis Money Show, has been helping viewers for 14 years and will celebrate its anniversary this September. The show consistently attracts around 2.5 million viewers and became ‘Live’ in 2020.

Lewis reacted to the award by explaining that he’s often mistaken for a financial advisor, but he’s actually a broadcast journalist – and always has been. He said the BAFTA TV Award feels particularly special because of this, and that if he’d known back in 1997, when he was retraining for a journalism degree, he’d be receiving such recognition, he wouldn’t have believed it. He admitted he still feels surprised and honored today.
He strongly emphasized the valuable role of journalism, explaining that it’s not only about uncovering stories, but also about inspiring people to make a difference. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity ITV gave him over the last 14 years to connect with viewers in their homes and share information he believed could improve their lives.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has listened to and taken action on my work. Thank you to BAFTA for this recognition – it means a lot! It also brings important attention to the role of consumer journalism on TV, which is essential for balancing the power between people and large companies or the government.
