Martin Lewis responds as BBC ‘drops’ his wife Lara Lewington’s show
As a long-time follower of Martin Lewis and Lara Lewington, I must say that their journey through the world of technology has been nothing short of captivating. From Martin’s financial advice to Lara’s tech insights, they have consistently managed to keep us informed and engaged.
Martin Lewis has voiced his backing for his wife, Lara Lewington, after rumors surfaced that her BBC program “Click” is no longer on the air.
The technology-focused series has run since 2000, though Lewington has taken to social media to suggest that Click has been dropped.
In response to her recent post, Lewis, who’s been wedded to Lewington since 2009, expressed on platform X (previously known as Twitter): “I’m beaming with pride as a husband. I have no doubts that the shutting of one door will lead to the opening of numerous others.
The BBC has since clarified that the show will move to digital with a new name and presenting team.
In a recent announcement (as reported by the Daily Star), our premier tech show, previously known as Click, is undergoing a transformation and will be rebranded as Tech Now. The shift will move away from its traditional TV presentation to one that’s optimized for digital platforms instead.
Digital Spy has reached out to the BBC for further comment.
In her initial social media post, Lewington expressed: “Cheers to what’s ahead… I have some PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS (accompanied by one of my favorite @bbcclick images): After 15 years of showcasing some of the most remarkable technology on our planet, it is with regret that in a few months BBC Click will no longer be looking towards the future.
The presenter hinted at a number of thrilling upcoming projects. Among them are wrapping up some documentaries, serving as an AI advisor on the show “Lorraine“, and embarking on a captivating health technology venture in the following year.
Lewington mentioned that the BBC provided a fantastic chance for us to explore technology that not only impacts our lives today but also shapes our future in ways beyond our imagination.
It’s unfortunate that our beloved series has to conclude during this time of rapid AI advancement and swift innovation, but these are the financial limitations we’re facing.
She went on to praise the “brilliant, talented, creative and quirky characters” in her “Click family”, including co-presenter Spencer Kelly, who “has been the cleverest and most generous colleague [she] could have dreamt of”.
In the upcoming months, there’s plenty more exciting material yet to be revealed on Click. The star playfully hinted at this as well.
