Phillip Schofield’s daughter reveals her father is still ‘best friends’ with his wife Stephanie after admitting that his decision to come as gay was ‘very hard for the family’

Philip Schofield’s daughter, Molly, shared that he and his wife, Stephanie, remain close friends even after Philip announced his sexuality in 2020.
Four years ago, the popular host from This Morning, now aged 62, received acclaim after openly identifying as gay. Notably, his wife Stephanie and their two daughters stood by him during this significant life event.
Yet, the world of Phillip’s wife, Stephanie, shattered in May 2023 when it was publicly revealed that he had been involved in a multi-year affair with a younger male colleague from ITV.
In the fresh Channel 5 show titled “Cast Away,” Philip’s kin publicly address for the first time how the recent scandal has impacted their family.
Phil and Stephanie haven’t finalized a divorce, according to insiders, who mentioned earlier that she continues to harbor strong feelings for him and will continue to be part of his “emotional support network.” Their daughters Molly and Ruby are also included in this circle.
Molly, working as her father’s PR representative, shared that, amidst the challenges faced by their family, Philip and Stephanie continue to maintain a strong, enduring relationship.
She expressed: ‘We’ve witnessed him at his toughest moments, yet I’ve felt nothing but pride towards him. As his daughter, it’s touching to see the affection people have for him. But when that love is stripped away, it’s unbearably sad.’
‘Weirdly everything that’s happened recently has made us closer.’
‘When my dad came out, it was, it was very hard for me,’ Molly continued.
The whole family found it incredibly challenging, with my mom being most affected initially as things became chaotic. However, after open discussions, we managed to navigate through it, and gradually, it has become less difficult over time.
‘My mum, my sister, we’re all the same we will always continued to support him no matter what.
It wasn’t something I expected, but with my parents remaining such good friends, I can’t help but feel incredibly fortunate.
Philip left the nation in awe when he announced that he’d be returning to television in the Channel 5 series titled “Cast Away.” In this show, he will survive alone for ten days on a beautiful yet isolated tropical island.
In the initial episode, Philip shared that he was all set for a suicide attempt, but changed his mind when his oldest child Molly convinced him otherwise, following his departure from This Morning.
He said: ‘In the last eighteen months, it got as dark as it is possible to get.
A little over a year back, I came incredibly close to achieving something. All the pieces were carefully arranged, preparations were made, and everything was all set, with Molly taking care of me throughout the process.
At the time, both Molly and Ruby were taking care of me. Molly then asked, “Could you envision the consequences if you successfully executed this plan? Could you picture the outcome and could you imagine the impact on me if you carried this out while I was in charge?
‘It was precisely enough, enough to give me a moment’s pause before falling over the edge. If not for this, I might have ended up at the hospital. Instead, I hurried to my family’s house, locked the gates, and found safety within.’
Later on, he acknowledged his deep gratitude towards his wife, Stephanie Lowe, Molly, aged 31, and his daughter Ruby, 28. He expressed that their presence in his life is the reason he exists.
16 months ago, Schofield made a comeback on TV following an incident where he had to publicly apologize to the Mail for falsely claiming his relationship with his ex-cohost from This Morning.
Additionally, he deceived ITV and his ex-co-host, Holly Willoughby, regarding their romantic involvement. Since then, he has been out of work.
However, throughout the course of the program, he discusses the relationship by likening it to a huge explosion in one’s life. He explains that you are aware of disappointing others and yourself.
What transpired was not a thoughtful or appropriate action. I carry a deep regret that will linger. I erred; I committed a blunder, and in doing so, I caused pain to those in my vicinity.
Three years following his public coming-out as gay on “This Morning,” hosted by Holly Willoughby, Schofield confessed that he had relished the romantic experience.
It was a secret he had kept from his entire family and his colleagues but he says he is proud of revealing the truth about his sexuality, saying: ‘I’m very proud of what I did, and I know that coming out for so many people is liberating. And it’s freedom on a plate.
Indeed, embrace who you are and make the most out of every moment, which is essentially living your best life. However, for me, discovering this philosophy later in life has brought more distress than happiness, as I am acutely conscious of the harm it can cause.
Notably, Schofield fails to bring up the subject of Holly or his ex-lover, whom he had previously agreed to confidentiality with, following the signing of a mutual non-disclosure agreement this year, which led to him receiving a substantial sum of money.
In a manner that leaves viewers questioning if the statement was about Holly, he expressed, “If you push someone in front of a moving vehicle, you must have an extremely strong justification for such an action.
On another occasion, Schofield commented: “I mostly yearn for it, but there are parts I absolutely detest. It offers valuable insights into others. What I’m not fond of is learning about them.
After leaving television, Schofield admits to spending many days resting in bed, often watching the news in a state of bewilderment.
