Dolly Parton hasn’t been feeling her best lately, but things are looking up. The 80-year-old country star has been battling kidney stones for nearly a year, and recently had an infection, which is why she had to delay her planned Las Vegas shows from last December.
Originally planned for September, Dolly Parton’s six Las Vegas shows have now been cancelled. She shared the news on Instagram, reassuring fans she’s doing well despite the cancellation. These dates won’t be rescheduled.
Dolly Parton shared in a video that she’s doing well with her medical treatment and getting better each day. However, she explained it will take some time before she’s back to performing on stage, as some of the medications and therapies make her feel a little dizzy – as she charmingly put it, ‘swimmy-headed’.

Her doctors have assured her that all of her conditions are treatable, though it will take time for her immune system to recover. As a result, she needs to prioritize rest and won’t be performing any shows for the time being.
The artist hadn’t toured extensively since 2016, although they continued to make music. When they found out they were being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, they felt they needed to release a rock album to truly deserve the honor. This led to the creation of Rockstar in 2023.
Dolly Parton is continuing to develop her Broadway musical, Dolly: A True Original Musical, which is scheduled to premiere in late 2026. She’s also planning to open a museum and hotel in Nashville in the near future.
Although Dolly Parton doesn’t currently have plans for a Las Vegas show or a long tour, she’s still quite active. Everyone hopes she’ll continue to recover and be able to perform live for years to come.
This applies to everyone, not just Dolly Parton’s fans. Musicians generally enjoy performing for large crowds, and Dolly has always been great at connecting with audiences. Hopefully, she’ll feel better soon and be able to perform at her usual level again if she wants to.
