Harry Styles' sister Gemma candidly reveals how she struggled with suicidal thoughts after being left feeling 'hollow and unworthy' amid her battle with depression

As a seasoned observer of the world of celebrity, I must say that Gemma’s decision to keep her pregnancy under wraps is both admirable and understandable. Having been in the public eye myself for quite some time, I can empathize with her desire to protect her newborn daughter from unwanted attention.

As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing that Harry Styles’ sister, Gemma, bravely disclosed her personal struggle with suicidal thoughts during her fight against depression.

33-year-old author and podcast host openly shared that she experienced feelings of emptiness and self-doubt, choosing to reveal her personal journey through her upcoming book titled “Why Am I Like This?” as a means to assist others.

She shared with The Mirror: “Sharing experiences where you say ‘I’ve been through something similar, I felt just as low, but I’m feeling better now,’ can greatly help those grappling with suicidal thoughts or deep depression.

In simpler terms, I didn’t wish for death intentionally, but I deeply yearned to escape from the life I was living, and in essence, that desire equated to a longing to step away.

Gemma, who recently became a mother with her partner Michal Miynowski, shared that although she’s feeling good at the moment, she worries that depression might resurface in the future.

Occasionally, a nagging thought crosses my mind that it might happen to me once more, but I make an effort not to focus too much on it. I’ve been through it previously, so if it comes up again, I believe I can handle it.

After Gemma shared that pop sensation Harry, aged 30, had offered assistance during her mental health challenges and acted as a caring, involved uncle.

Gemma shared with The Sunday Times that despite the ex-One Direction bandmember being busy with his sold-out tour and performing alongside Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, he continues to make time to offer his support for her.

It came to light that at 30 years old, Harry plays an active role as an uncle, going so far as to assume babysitting responsibilities during a photo shoot he did with a newspaper. He accompanied the event to ensure the care of his niece.

In the course of her mental health journey, the singer has significantly contributed. Interestingly, she mentioned in the acknowledgments of her book that her younger brother often provided her with encouraging conversations, or as one might say, pep talks.

She thanked her mother, Anne Twist and ‘H for the pep talks and your endless wisdom’.

In the course of the conversation, it came to light that Gemma’s family is quite open when discussing mental health matters, a trait which she has found reassuring over time.

Although she is his older sister, she acknowledged that she doesn’t provide Harry with much guidance because the entire Styles family tends to assist one another instead.

During the interview Gemma also revealed that her family are all very open about their mental health and she has found that comforting through the years.

Although she is the elder sister, she acknowledged that she doesn’t offer Harry much guidance because the entire Styles family tends to assist one another.

Gemma’s interview follows her candid pregnancy admission.

In April, Harry’s sister shared the reason behind hiding her pregnancy, following her surprise announcement that she had already delivered a baby in February, leaving fans astonished.

When she posted a picture featuring herself, her partner Michal Miynowski, and their child, many fans were taken aback as they weren’t aware that she was pregnant beforehand.

During that period, Gemma shared a touching image as well, showing her tenderly holding her newborn daughter – a name she hasn’t disclosed yet – at the hospital.

On Instagram, Gemma shared that she hid her baby bump during her pregnancy to ensure the safety and protection of her child.

Despite her confidence that someone would notice it during the final performances of her famous brother’s Love On Tour, nobody actually did.

In a Q&A with her followers, Gemma was asked why she decided not to share that she was pregnant.

In response to sharing a picture from April with her baby bump in an oversized sweater, Gemma explained, “Actually, there were several factors at play, some private and others not.

Initially, I planned to hold off on revealing my pregnancy until after further scans, considering the upcoming Love On Tour shows. However, I couldn’t resist showing my baby bump at these last concerts. To my surprise, I was able to hide it and eventually thought, “I think I can make it to the end.” In the end, that decision seemed fitting for us.

Afterward, a follower praised Gemma for protecting her daughter’s privacy temporarily.

She replied, “Thank you and I truly value your help!” Later on, she mused that sharing information online is similar to squeezing toothpaste from its tube – once it’s out, it can’t be returned.

For the first time, I find myself in a situation that’s unfamiliar to me. I’m unsure of her preferences, and our primary concern is ensuring her well-being and security.

Many individuals choose to conceal their children’s identities on social media, and there are valid justifications for doing so. We can make our own decisions regarding this matter when the time comes.

She added: ‘I really appreciate all the supportive messages checking in on how we are, it’s so nice that people care – we’re good!’.
