New Young Jedi Adventure shorts get you revved up for Season 2

As a seasoned Star Wars fan with memories of watching the original trilogy in the cinema during my childhood, I can confidently say that the upcoming season of “Young Jedi Adventures” is a delightful addition to the franchise that transcends age boundaries. Having raised my own younglings (not literally, of course), I appreciate the whimsical yet educational nature of this show, which perfectly captures the spirit of childhood while subtly imparting valuable life lessons.

As a dedicated Star Wars gamer, I can’t help but feel exhilarated with all the exciting developments this summer! The announcement of “The Acolyte” and updates on beloved projects like “The Mandalorian” and “Andor” have kept us fans buzzing. Despite our continuous craving for more, we’re barely a week away from diving back into another season of “Young Jedi Adventures.” It’s an adventure I can hardly wait to embark on!

It’s been confirmed that the three young Jedi we encountered previously will take on greater roles with higher stakes this season. Characters Taborr and Raxlo are set to return as adversaries, while a new Padawan named Wes Vinik (voiced by Gunnar Sizemore) and R0-M1, a new character, will join the mix.

As a longtime fan of animated shows, I find the whimsical nature of this particular series to be quite refreshing. Not only is it appealing to kids, but it also caters to the nostalgic adult audience who grew up with Star Wars. If you’re eager to catch a glimpse of Kai, Lys, and Nubs’ adventures, I highly recommend checking them out on the Star Wars Kids YouTube Channel. The short episodes they’ve released so far perfectly capture the essence of this unique show while also introducing new elements to the storyline. Here are my favorite aspects of each main character:

A beloved choice is “Younglings in the Wild,” a story where Lys takes on a leadership position. Fresh younglings have joined, and she isn’t just offering wisdom but also serving as the essential guide, as one of them becomes overly fascinated with the local fauna and ends up getting carried away. It’s heartening to witness her growth while maintaining her authentic self.

In the meantime, the “Nubs-tacle Course” depicts our beloved Poobian battling to demonstrate his worth in a physical task that a fellow student had effortlessly accomplished earlier. As someone who was clumsy growing up and understands the frustration of my own limitations, I found Nubs’ determination as admirable as the praise he received from Master Yoda.

In the short film “Junkyard Joust,” Kai takes on several entertaining and educational roles, yet it revisits an old pattern: Taborr versus Brightstar. A young pirate arrives at Malaa’s place, putting Kai in a position to safeguard his friend’s wellbeing. Initially overpowered, Kai learns a valuable lesson about jumping to conclusions when he discovers that Taborr is there for honorable intentions instead.

Here are some additional delights to explore, ranging from the droid performances captivating the spotlight to an aerial training session with Master Zia’s novice Padawan. Don’t miss out; catch them before Season 2 concludes on Tenoo, coming August 14.
