As a devoted fan of The Bachelorette, it’s always disheartening to see one of its contestants in such a negative light. James Taylor, who charmed us all during JoJo Fletcher’s season 12 back in 2016, has unfortunately found himself in hot water once again. It seems like he’s been making headlines for all the wrong reasons these days.

Approximately two years ago, the contestant James Taylor on The Bachelorette was apprehended for allegedly committing assault resulting in physical harm and illegal confinement. This incident followed an earlier arrest related to driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Sunday, August 4, as reported by US Weekly on Monday, the 38-year-old celebrity known for reality TV shows was apprehended at a bar located in Brazos County, Texas.

It has been verified that Taylor, a contestant from JoJo Fletcher’s season 12 in 2016, was apprehended by authorities due to warrants issued by the Bryan Police Department following an event that transpired in April.

He was ultimately booked on two charges:  assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint.

On Sunday, Taylor was eventually freed on an $8,000 bail bond, but he hasn’t spoken publicly about the arrest so far.

In September 2022, he encountered legal issues again, having been apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal possession of a firearm.

A Brazos County judge had found Taylor guilty on both charges a month later.

Ultimately, he received a sentence that required him to spend five days behind bars, part with $500 as a fine, an extra $585 for court expenses, and temporarily lose the privilege to drive.

Taylor found himself embroiled in conflict after taking part in the January 6, 2021 demonstration at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., where he joined others who stormed the building to contest the election defeat of former President Donald Trump in 2020.

The events at the Capitol riot led to the deaths of five people, including protestor Ashli Babbitt.

According to a report by The Washington Post, the union representing the Capitol Police stated that approximately 140 officers sustained injuries during the incident.

When Taylor posted on (what was formally known as) Twitter, it read: ‘A big thank you to the wonderful folks at #TheBachelor for standing by me throughout this journey … all the way up to the very top.’

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I wholeheartedly appreciate the unwavering support from conservative producers like ABCNetwork, ABC, and BachelorABC. I’m grateful for their backing as I exercised my legal rights to express my support for our esteemed President. #GraciousGratitude

In a response written on January 2021, the creator of The Bachelor, Mike Fleiss, addressed the claims made by a former contestant.

As a long-time fan of ‘The Bachelor’ and having watched every season since its inception, I must express my disappointment and disapproval towards any former cast member who chooses to attend a rally that supports treasonous behavior. It is not only unbecoming but also damaging to the values and principles that ‘Bachelor Nation’ stands for. Such actions are not tolerated within our community, and I believe it’s time for this individual to be exiled from #BachelorNation. Their participation in such events tarnishes the reputation of our beloved show and its loyal fans.

In the 2016 season of The Bachelorette, Taylor was removed during week 7, finishing in fifth place.

In the end, Bachelorette Fletcher picked Jordan Rodgers, a former professional quarterback and the sibling of renowned NFL player Aaron Rodgers. They got married on May 14, 2022.
