Ryan Reynolds responds to Jamie Lee Curtis’s Marvel apology
As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I find myself often caught between the captivating worlds of comic books and video games. The recent exchange between Ryan Reynolds and Jamie Lee Curtis, two icons in their respective realms, has piqued my interest.
Ryan Reynolds has addressed Jamie Lee Curtis’ apology following her remarks about Marvel, which she called “unintelligent.”
At Comic-Con last week during an interview with MTV, Curtis and her Borderlands colleagues were asked what phase Marvel is in now. Curtis replied casually, “It’s not good.”)
Following the widespread sharing of her remarks on various social media platforms, Curtis expressed regret and apologized on X (previously known as Twitter). He admitted his previous comments about Marvel were unwise and promised to make improvements in the future.
The Oscar winner went on to say, “I’ve contacted Kevin Feige and decided to steer clear of the cutthroat online environment we know as the internet. I won’t participate in clickbait strategies such as promoting ‘toilet paper’ (a metaphor for sensationalized content) or getting involved in games that prioritize views rather than genuine discussions.”
In response, Reynolds, who plays Deadpool and Wolverine, swiftly defended Curtis, stating that no apology was needed initially.
“Wait, is everyone expected to apologise for slamming Marvel post-Endgame?” he wrote on X.
After making earlier remarks about Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and comparing it to her Academy Award-winning movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, Curtis has now issued a commentary and an apology.
In a single social media post, she expressed her thought: “Am I the only one noticing something unusual? Our small film, which has achieved, surpassed, and maintains its position as #1movieinamerica, is genuinely spectacular, outshining any Marvel movie. Could this be a case of online rivalry?”
In a different context, she enthusiastically praised the film “Everything Everywhere All At Once” as follows: “WONDERFUL! It boasts a profound soul and stunning visual delights, OUTSTANDING acting and THRILLING monster battle scenes,” adding humorously: “PLUS, it was CHEAPER than the ENTIRE catering budget for “Doctor Strange” and/or any other Marvel production.”
