An ‘Old Man Archer’ series or film would be great for Star Trek: Enterprise fans
As a Star Trek enthusiast with over three decades of fandom under my belt, I must say that the ideas presented by Lucas, while amusing, seem to miss the mark for me. While I appreciate the humor and creativity, I can’t help but feel that these concepts are not quite what the Star Trek universe needs at this juncture.
In search of innovative concepts, Star Trek is hoping to discover ones superior to those like Section 31 or live-action comedies that seem undesirable. As I delve into extensive research for the upcoming Star Trek: Section 31 trailer, I stumbled upon a fascinating tweet. (Paraphrased)
As a lifelong Star Trek enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the universe that Gene Roddenberry created, I find it disheartening to see some of the ideas suggested by this fan named Lucas. While it’s always exciting to speculate about what could be, these proposed storylines seem poorly thought out and lacking in the spirit of Star Trek.
Could it be that these thoughts are playful or serious, but they crossed my mind either way: The concept of Archer stirred something in me. What if we had an Old Man Archer series instead?
1. A Series Exploring an Elderly Archer: This series revolves around Captain Archer, who is depicted living 50 years prior to the original Star Trek series and donning the first iteration of his uniform (not from the mirror universe).

In a more somber light, I believe Archer might have turned cooler following Trip Tucker’s demise. The grief over Trip’s death could have pushed him towards this darker character arc, leading him to strive for the role of Future Man. Although not explicitly stated in the series, members of the production team often imagined Archer as his own primary antagonist. This could be a possible development in his storyline.
As a longtime fan of Star Trek: Enterprise, I’ve grown quite fond of the characters, particularly Trip and T’Pol. Their storyline has always been intriguing, and their chemistry is undeniable. Now, if I were to imagine a continuation for them, I’d envision a gripping movie or mini-series where they find themselves in a time loop, with the fate of the universe hanging in the balance. The key to breaking this loop? Only Trip’s former first officer and current wife, T’Pol, can solve the puzzle and save the day (with a dramatic score playing softly in the background). This would be an exciting and emotional journey for both characters, showcasing their growth and deepening their bond.
The show could provide a chance for redemption for Star Trek: Enterprise, by allowing all major characters to reappear in some capacity. This could help rectify certain subpar additions to the Star Trek universe, and more importantly, bring back Trip and offer a satisfying conclusion to fans of the Enterprise series.
After three decades of service, it turns out that Old Man Archer wasn’t getting promoted, instead, it was Harry Kim who finally rose through the ranks from ensign to lieutenant. However, during the ceremony, the person responsible for presenting his promotional insignia accidentally dropped them into a drainage system.
It could be a Short Trek called “Forever Ensign”.
