Eddie Murphy, 65, declares ‘it’s raining blessings’ as father of ten welcomes TWO grandchildren in two months

Oh my gosh, you guys, Eddie Murphy is officially a grandpa again! He just announced it – he said ‘it’s raining blessings‘ after his son had a baby boy! That makes two grandkids for him in just two months! I’m seriously so happy for him, it’s amazing!

Eddie Murphy announced the birth of his new baby while at the American Film Institute Awards in Los Angeles, sharing that the child was born earlier this year.

The actor, 65, told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I just had my first grandson two months ago.’ 

Eddie Murphy hasn’t shared which of his children is the parent of his new baby boy. However, PEOPLE magazine reported that his daughter, Bria, 36, appeared to be pregnant at a November screening of the documentary ‘Being Eddie’.

The actor recently became a grandfather for the second time! His son, Eric, and daughter-in-law, Jasmin, welcomed a baby girl named Ari Skye. Interestingly, Jasmin’s father is actor Martin Lawrence.

He shared some personal good news, saying he recently welcomed his third granddaughter into the world. He described it as a wonderful time, feeling like he’s been incredibly blessed.

He explained that he doesn’t offer parenting advice, saying children are more influenced by what you do rather than what you say. They learn by watching your actions and following your example, not by listening to your suggestions.

People aren’t really listening to what you say; they’re watching your actions. Because of that, I don’t offer much advice.

Eddie Murphy has ten children. He shares a son named Eric with Paulette McNeely and a son named Christian, age 35, with Tamara Hood.

He has seven children: Bria, Shayne (31), Zola (26), Bella (24), and Myles (33) with his former wife, Nicole Mitchell; Angel (19) with Melanie Brown; and Izzy (9) and Max (7) with his current wife, Paige Butcher.

The actor recently shared that Eric and Jasmine got married in a small, private church ceremony last May.

He revealed on The Jennifer Hudson Show in May 2025 that he and his partner had gotten married about two weeks prior, and they chose to have a small, private ceremony instead of a big wedding.

He explained that after initially planning a large wedding, they changed their minds and decided they’d prefer a small, private ceremony just for the two of them.

Murphy playfully teased Martin Lawrence, the father of the bride, saying he wouldn’t need to spend a lot on the wedding, and pointed out that they are now family.

He went on to explain that they eloped and got married in a simple church ceremony with only the two of them and the officiant present.

‘They had a quiet little thing. So I think we’ll have a big party or something.’ 

Before the actor could accept the award, the audience gave him a standing ovation. As he walked onto the stage and through the ballroom, applause followed him. He passed by several famous faces along the way, including Spike Lee, Martin Lawrence, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Arsenio Hall, and Judge Reinhold.

Murphy said he was deeply moved to see his family, children, wife, and colleagues at the awards ceremony. He received a lifetime achievement award Saturday evening at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

This is a really emotional moment for me. I wish you all could experience what I’m feeling and seeing right now. It almost made me cry, and I think I’ll probably go backstage and let it all out.

A special honoring Chappelle, with performances by Bill Burr, Kevin Hart, Eva Longoria, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Kenan Thompson, will be available on Netflix starting May 31st.

Eddie Murphy quickly rose to fame, starting as a popular teenage comedian, then becoming a star on Saturday Night Live, and eventually achieving success as a leading actor in hit movies like Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, The Nutty Professor, and the Shrek films.

Big photos capturing key moments from his career were displayed on stage, showcasing his work in comedy, TV, and movies.

Lee, who presented the award, praised Eddie Murphy for bringing joy to the country and making people laugh. Lee explained that they both used their platforms to inspire positive change and advance culture, and emphasized that Murphy has always remained authentic throughout his career.

Comedians pointed to Murphy´s influence across generations.

‘There is no us without you,’ Rock said.
