I used the iPhone 15 Pro Max for six months, and it’s the best handset Apple’s ever made

As a long-time gamer and tech enthusiast, I have to admit that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is an impressive upgrade from its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The weight reduction with the new titanium build, USB-C integration, faster processing power, upgraded camera system, and customizable “action button” are all features that I’ve grown to appreciate in my daily use.

The new iPhone 15 Pro Max from Apple is an impressive improvement over its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Not only is it lighter due to its titanium construction, but it also features USB-C and operates faster than ever before. Its enhanced camera system makes it more capable, and I frequently utilize the customizable “action button” instead of the traditional side buttons.

In order to make this critique succinct, I want to express my strong appreciation for this product, sharing the same reasons I admire the compact iPhone 15 Pro model. However, there are extra features that set it apart: an impressive 5x zoom lens, and a significantly improved battery life.

After using another phone for six months, I went back to my Samsung Galaxy S15 Pro as my primary device. Although I enjoy the telephoto lens and longer battery life of the other phone, the smaller size and ease of use with one hand outweigh the benefits for me.

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Design

The new iPhone 15 Pro Max showcases improved design elements. While retaining its iconic appearance as an iPhone, it boasts a lightweight and durable titanium frame. This upgrade results in a significant reduction of weight from 240g to 221g compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Additionally, this model boasts a standard three-camera setup at the back and a “Dynamic Island” housing the front camera and facial recognition technology at the top of the screen. The device boasts remarkably thin bezels, a feature common to iPhones, but its 6.7-inch size will undoubtedly feel substantial compared to smaller 6.1-inch models.

Apple made some subtle improvements to the back glass of its new phones, giving it gently curved edges. The Pro series now offers four different titanium hues: black, white, blue, and natural. These devices maintain their water and dust resistance, holding onto the same IP67 rating as their predecessors.

I really enjoy the adjustable “function key” that takes the place of the former mute button on one of my favorites. Instead of just muting or silencing the device, you can assign it various tasks such as opening the camera, turning on the flashlight, or triggering a Shortcut. Since I rarely utilized the mute switch, this feature has become indispensable for me when taking quick photos.

USB-C is a crucial aspect of the design that I must discuss. Although it’s now standard on most Android smartphones, this shift represents a significant adjustment for Apple’s product range, bringing their devices in line with industry norms.

I find it incredibly convenient to use one cable for charging multiple devices of mine, and it’s a real game-changer when it comes to connecting USB-C accessories. With this cable, I can connect memory card readers, high-quality DACs for superior audio, and transfer data quickly to external drives. It even supports rapid charging protocols and allows power sharing between devices. In terms of functionality and usability, it’s a significant improvement that makes me less inclined to recommend older iPhone models lacking this feature.

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Display

The display sizes and resolutions of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the 14 Pro Max are nearly identical: Both boast a high-quality 6.7-inch OLED screen, complete with an adaptive refresh rate that maxes out at 120Hz and the practical “Dynamic Island” feature, in addition to offering always-on functions.

The borders around the screen have become slightly more compact – it’s possible you might not even notice this adjustment.

If not that, a peak brightness of 2,000 nits is impressively bright for maintaining readability under sunlight, the high refresh rate ensures a smooth visual experience, and its color accuracy is commendable.

From my perspective as a passionate consumer of digital media, this screen truly shines when it comes to showcasing my cherished memories in the form of photos, immersing myself in engaging articles, or indulging in my favorite movies and TV shows.

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Camera

The new iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts an advanced compact camera system with an upgraded triple-lens setup, offering even better photo quality than its predecessor. There are several enhancements both in the software and hardware aspects to look forward to.

The major upgrades consist of a bigger primary sensor that lessens lens glare and boosts picture clarity, specifically in low-light portrait photography. Additionally, it offers a broader zoom range compared to the 5x optical zoom on the previous model. Based on my usage, this feature yields sharp and vivid images without compromising quality. It is more effective than the 3x zoom found in the 15 Pro.

Apple has streamlined portrait mode photography by making it automatically activate for images of people and certain animals, such as cats and dogs. This is a beneficial feature for those who enjoy the artistic depth-of-field effect of this mode but often forget to apply it manually.

In my trials, the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s cameras perform exceptionally well in diverse situations. They take impressive close-up shots using the telephoto lens, while also providing multiple focal length alternatives – equivalent to 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm lenses – through computational photography without sacrificing image clarity.

As a seasoned mobile photographer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that this tool is an absolute game-changer for both amateur and professional photographers on the go. Regardless of the lens I use or the lighting conditions, I’ve found it consistently delivers impressive results. Moreover, its video recording capabilities are nothing short of fantastic.
