Modern Family star’s TV comeback gets disappointing update
As a long-time fan who has followed Ty Burrell’s career since his early days on “Scrubs” and more recently as Phil Dunphy on the beloved sitcom “Modern Family,” I am disheartened to hear about the cancellation of “Forgive & Forget.” The premise, which seemed tailor-made for Burrell’s talents, offered a unique blend of humor and emotion that I was eagerly anticipating.
The upcoming comedy featuring Ty Burrell, titled “Forgive & Forget,” unfortunately, doesn’t bring good news anymore.
The show that was initially unveiled in March centers around a vibrant character known as Hank (Burrell), who, upon receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, seeks to reconnect with his grown son. Their aim is to create fresh memories together before the onset of the disease takes its toll.
The live-action TV return of Burrell, titled “Deadline,” has allegedly been canceled by ABC according to reports from Deadline, due to difficulties during production. Some possible causes mentioned include the complex subject matter and the replacement of Hank’s son in the show, which may have contributed to the decision.
As a passionate gamer, I was eagerly anticipating my role in this upcoming project. Not only would I be starring as the lead, but I also had the exciting opportunity to serve as an executive producer. The scripts for this game were being masterfully crafted by Eugene Garcia-Cross and Robin Shorr, with the narrative drawing inspiration from aspects of Garcia-Cross’ personal life. I couldn’t wait to dive into this deeply immersive gaming experience!
Phil Burrell is most recognized for his portrayal of Phil Dunphy on the show “Modern Family,” which ended in 2020 after running for 11 seasons. It’s been disclosed by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played Mitchell Pritchett, that a spin-off focusing on his character was initially considered, but ultimately abandoned.
The group had talks about it, and I believe they chose not to proceed. They seemed to be questioning if perhaps this was still the appropriate family to continue the narrative. In essence, after being on-air for eleven years, I suspect they were ready to explore new avenues.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share an exciting tidbit from the world of my favorite TV shows! Series co-creator Christopher Lloyd has dropped a hint that the universe of Modern Family might grow with more tales to tell. Here’s what he said: “We’ve had some initial chats about spinning off certain characters.”
In approximately a year, there might be an opportunity for us to meet up with one, two, or even three individuals, possibly joined by other characters from the series. However, I must clarify that this is not a confirmed event as of now. We often discuss such possibilities among ourselves, but it has yet to materialize into reality.
