Drea de Matteo slams ‘short-sighted women’ bashing Trump over abortion fears as she reveals she has had three terminations
As a woman who has fought to maintain my independence and autonomy throughout my life, I find it disheartening to see the ongoing debate about reproductive rights being overshadowed by the potential for a draft. While I appreciate the passion and conviction behind these discussions, I believe we must not lose sight of the bigger picture.
As a connoisseur of life’s nuances, I find myself compelled to address a topic that’s close to my heart. In a recent statement, Drea de Matteo, a renowned figure in the entertainment industry, has voiced her concerns about certain women who seem to be prioritizing abortion rights over other crucial issues during this election cycle. This perspective, as she puts it, appears short-sighted, considering her personal experience of undergoing three abortions herself. Her words serve as a poignant reminder that our choices and experiences shape our perspectives, and we must consider the broader implications of our decisions, especially when casting our votes.
As a lifestyle guide, I recently had the opportunity to share my thoughts exclusively with DailyMail.com, and I must say, I admire Donald Trump, a man of 78 years, for his unwavering stance on issues concerning women’s reproductive rights – or rather, his lack of concern about them.
In simpler terms, the mother of two shared her insightful viewpoint in the discussion since she’s had two abortions and a dilation and curettage – a medical process where the cervix is expanded and the lining of the uterus is scraped to eliminate tissue.
She stated, only a few days following her vote for Trump, that women who cling so strongly to a single notion appear quite narrow-minded because they are.
The devotion appears quite similar to religious fervor. It seems as though they cling tightly to their beliefs, which allows them a pass for truly grasping the vast events unfolding everywhere around them. There are countless occurrences of immense magnitude.
As a deeply invested advocate, I find myself compelled to share my personal journey. You see, I’ve undergone three terminations, a fact I often reduce to two. However, there was one instance where nature didn’t follow its course as planned. This led to a miscarriage, and in turn, required a dilation and curettage procedure – a necessary step to ensure my health.
In a recent statement, the actress known for her role in Sons of Anarchy, while affirming her pro-choice stance, expressed disagreement towards certain liberal males who vocally advocate for women’s reproductive freedom.
She responded, “Silence, I question your knowledge regarding females’ reproductive autonomy.” However, I can appreciate the viewpoint of conservatives when they argue, “This embodies a soul, a spirit, a human life.
Among my numerous close acquaintances, there are many ardent advocates for pro-life causes, whom I hold in high regard. Yet, I find myself also believing that individuals should have a reasonable degree of autonomy when it comes to making personal decisions about their reproductive choices.
Regarding Trump, I firmly believe that his actions don’t hint at any personal crusade to strip women of their reproductive rights, as some might claim.
During his tenure, Trump took great pride in being known as the most ardently pro-life president ever. He claimed responsibility for removing federal safeguards on abortions by appointing conservative judges to the Supreme Court, whose subsequent decision led to the reversal of Roe v Wade.
He has made it clear that he might support the repeal of Florida’s six-week abortion ban once it reaches a referendum later in the year.
Nevertheless, the previous contestant on The Apprentice didn’t express a firm stance on employing the presidential veto should a nationwide federal ban reach his presidency – contrasting with his running mate, JD Vance, who has stated that he would.
Regarding the previous President’s position, De Matteo, who shares a son and daughter with her ex Shooter Jennings, commented: ‘He had the opportunity as a Republican to take away the power from the States, but instead, he chose to give it to them. If he wanted to, he could have simply said, “We’re going to eliminate it”.
‘It seems clear that his decision to move it over to the States indicates he has no intention of interfering with your reproductive rights. In essence, he’s making it clear that this isn’t an issue he wants to get involved with.’
She pointed out that Trump frequently claims credit for various matters, and added: “I don’t believe he is genuinely concerned about women’s reproductive rights. To clarify, I’m not implying he’s a villain here. Instead, it seems as though he just doesn’t feel the need to play the stereotypical role in this issue.
Moving forward, de Matteo critically pointed out that the emphasis on abortion rights was misguided. Instead, he criticized those who prioritized this issue over the more pressing concern that women have been included in the draft list.
Despite a Senate committee passing a bill making it mandatory for women to enroll in the Selective Service, the legislation hasn’t yet reached the point of becoming law.
It must still be approved by both chambers of Congress and then signed by the president.
She continued: ‘It’s your sons and your daughters now, and it’s an automatic. Once we go to war, everybody goes in and why isn’t anybody focused on that?
‘You’re going to choose between a draft to go to World War Three and for your daughter to have a right to have an abortion – especially if you live in the state of California or the state of New York? You’re going to vote for reproductive rights when you know you have them right here in your state, like it’s goofy.
‘You’re not thinking about the implications of this country being seriously on the brink of war.’
The Swordfish actress is no stranger to slamming Hollywood for lambasting the Right.
Last year, she became well-known for signing up to OnlyFans, stating that she was rapidly depleting her funds. She attributed the adult-oriented subscription platform for assisting her in preventing homelessness.
She said the site is now her political freedom and has saved her from having to join the ranks of Hollywood ‘lunatics that are totally condoning war.’
She stated, “Those who know me understand why I needed to sign up for OnlyFans – it was a matter of saving my home, preserving my own life, and safeguarding my family.
Then, after that event, I found myself suddenly thrust into a political world that was completely unexpected for me.
My OnlyFans account serves as my personal expression of freedom, particularly in a political sense. I’m not here to dictate your actions, but rather, I encourage you to stay informed about this aspect of my life.
Previously this year, she stated that due to a lack of acting jobs following her position on vaccinations, she felt compelled to resort to a subscription service, as her representative also ended their professional relationship with her.
In my advice, swiftly making this move found me grappling with a precarious financial predicament, resorting to forbearance to manage my mortgage payments. Regrettably, I soon realized that the staggering debt I owed to the collectors was an insurmountable burden.
Despite publicly stating that she managed to earn enough money within just five minutes of setting up her profile to cover her mortgage foreclosure debt, she has since distanced herself from the Hollywood scene.
She asserted that approximately half of Hollywood is supporting Trump, and she believes that celebrities promoting Harris are spreading a potentially harmful message.
