Billy Strings does the one thing people are told not to do in concert

Bluegrass musician Billy Strings, who blends genres like country and jam-band, is taking a break from performing. During a recent show in Charlottesville, Virginia, he injured himself attempting a skateboard trick before returning for his encore – something definitely not recommended!

He unfortunately broke his leg and needs to postpone the remaining shows from his spring tour. Luckily, he didn’t have many dates left and plans to start performing again in July, hopefully fully recovered by then.

According to Strings, an amusing thing happened after his injury. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, who broke his leg onstage in Sweden back in June 2015, offered Strings the special chair Grohl used during shows while recovering. Strings didn’t take him up on the offer, though.

So, yeah, I totally messed up! Everyone warned me about skateboarding after a show, but I didn’t listen. Saturday night, right before our encore, I was hyped from an awesome performance. I hopped on my board to do a back 180 – something I’ve done a million times – and I landed wrong. I actually heard my leg snap over the sound of the crowd! Definitely not how I planned to end the night.

The band quickly rescheduled their concerts, and your existing tickets will be valid for the new dates. While the singer is likely to avoid skateboarding at future shows, he’ll probably joke about this incident somehow.
