Since Daniel Craig stepped down as James Bond, fans have been eagerly speculating about who will be the next 007. With actors like Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson potentially in the running, it’s really anyone’s guess who will get the part.
Jacob Elordi is a leading contender to be the next James Bond. Entertainment journalist Marina Hyde reports that, according to betting odds, the Australian actor is currently the frontrunner for the role, quickly becoming a popular choice among fans and industry insiders.
I was listening to Marina Hyde’s podcast, The Rest Is Entertainment, and she was talking about who could be the next James Bond. She went over some betting odds for different actors who might be in the running, and she even mentioned it’s totally possible they haven’t even picked anyone yet!

“I have to say, I have heard from a number of people now that Jacob Elordi has kind of moved into pole position,” she told co-host Richard Osman, before adding that “Callum Turner is way out ahead”.
The conversation then turned to whether Jacob Elordi was too physically imposing to convincingly play a spy, with a lighthearted suggestion that his attractiveness would make him stand out too much. Hyde added that Elordi already has a strong appeal, implying women would be immediately attracted to him.

Casting Daniel Craig as James Bond was a brilliant decision – arguably one of the best ever. Producer Barbara Broccoli took a chance on him, as many people didn’t recognize him at the time. But after seeing him in the role, it was clear she’d made the right choice, and he quickly became incredibly popular.
Hyde described actor Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in productions like Wuthering Heights and Frankenstein, as a rising star of his generation – “Gen Z A-List.” She also pointed out that if Elordi were to become the next James Bond, it would mean the franchise wouldn’t have a Bond actor from the Millennial generation, at least for now.
Osman explained that the actor, at 28, is likely capable of playing the role for at least ten years – which is exactly what the studio, Amazon MGM Studios, is hoping for. They’re looking for someone who can become strongly associated with the character for a long time.

Even though Elordi is Australian, it seems the creators gave him their blessing to portray the famous British character. He’s not the first Australian actor to take on the role, though – George Lazenby famously played the spy briefly after Sean Connery.
