Rivals and 1923 stars join Ashley Walters in cast for “thrillingly suspenseful” ITV drama

ITV’s new drama, First Woman, starring Ashley Walters and Andrea Riseborough, has announced some exciting new cast members. Actors from the shows Rivals and 1923 will also be appearing in the series.

The new series, revealed last month, stars Rebecca Riseborough as Claire, an astronaut who vanishes under mysterious conditions. Jude Walters plays her husband, Ben, who embarks on a quest to find her and uncover what really happened.

Alex Hassell and Jennifer Ehle are joining the cast. Hassell is known for his roles in Disney+’s Rivals, as well as His Dark Materials and Wasteman.

Ehle has been in shows like The Good Fight and the 1995 film version of Pride and Prejudice. More recently, she had a recurring role as Sister Mary in the first season of 1923, a prequel to Yellowstone.

Hassell will play Christopher Scott, the UK’s Prime Minister. The character is portrayed as refined, practical, and well-controlled, and has established a moderate political stance centered on the idea that Britain needs to be a strong competitor in the world.

The character description hints that as the situation worsens, Christopher’s position becomes more unstable, and questions how far he’ll go to achieve his goals.

Ehle will play Helen Sadler, a UK Space Flight Authority investigator assigned to find out what happened to Claire. Sadler is doubtful about certain aspects of the case and isn’t afraid to reveal hidden truths.

The upcoming six-part drama, First Woman, promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful series. Lydia Yeoman, George Oakes, and Ben Schiffer are writing the script, and Philip Martin is directing.

The story follows Claire Reith, a biologist and the first woman to walk on the moon, who goes missing during a research mission. This raises questions about her fellow astronauts and a competing Chinese lunar base.

Ben is desperately trying to find out what happened to his wife, even though she’s thousands of miles away. The story jumps between experts on Earth and the moon itself, creating a thrilling and urgent search for answers.

First Woman has no release date.
