Al Pacino reunites with ex Beverly D’Angelo, 74, for his 86th birthday…two decades after their split

Despite ending their romantic relationship over 20 years ago, Al Pacino and Beverly D’Angelo have stayed very close and share a strong connection.

It was just so heartwarming to see them all together! You could really feel the genuine friendship radiating from everyone as they celebrated James Caan’s 86th birthday on Friday. They couldn’t even wait until the actual day – and honestly, when something’s this special, why would you?

Al Pacino and his daughter Olivia, along with her twin brother Anton, were both stylish and comfortable for their day out, sporting fashionable outfits and sneakers.

The 74-year-old actor, known for his role in National Lampoon’s Vacation, looked stylish in a yellow blazer, white shirt, and navy pants, completed with a comfortable scarf.

Al Pacino, known for his lively social circle that includes friends like Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, and Tobey Maguire, stuck to his signature dark clothing but accessorized with a fringed scarf and a beanie, completing a fashionable look.

The former couple shared a romantic relationship from 1996 to 2003. They first connected on a flight to New York and quickly fell in love, with D’Angelo joking that they were already a couple before the plane even landed.

In 2001, they had twins through IVF, but their relationship ended two years later. This led to a complicated and public legal battle regarding custody and financial support for the children, which they finally resolved in 2004.

Thankfully, they eventually built a strong and friendly co-parenting relationship that continues to this day.

In a 2021 Instagram video, D’Angelo talked about their previous relationship and how they’ve stayed close over time. They were responding to questions from fans, according to People magazine.

In a video titled ‘Because you asked…’, the actress revealed she and Al were together for seven years and share two children.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Back in ’96, I was on a flight from LA to New York, and D’Angelo was right in front of me! He actually asked me to come up and sit next to him – can you even imagine?! It was instant. By the time we landed in New York, we were a thing. It was absolutely magical!

In 1997, he told me he wanted me to be the mother of his children. Even though I’d always steered clear of that role, I was completely and deeply in love with him, and I wholeheartedly agreed.

After starting IVF treatment in 1997, they finally welcomed their twins, Anton and Olivia, four years later.

Looking back, things definitely got tough and we officially separated in 2004. But honestly, what really helped us navigate it all was our shared love for our kids. It became the foundation for working through our disagreements and building a new, positive relationship as parents who were committed to co-parenting.

‘Leading individual lives separately but always intertwined as a family,’ she said.

Let me tell you about my friendship with Al. It’s something really special – a deep connection between two artists that’s lasted for 27 years. We’ve always done things our own way, and honestly, it’s seen us through everything. That’s the heart of it, really.
