Teddi Mellencamp recently shared that she’s considering weight loss medication as she continues to fight cancer.
The 44-year-old reality TV star said she inquired with her doctor about using GLP-1 medications after noticing changes to her body from medical treatments, but was denied.
On Wednesday’s Two Ts in a Pod podcast, a health and wellness coach shared that she is battling cancer while speaking with her cohost, Dolores Catania.
I was gaining weight as a side effect of the steroids I was taking for treatment, so I asked my doctor if I could try GLP-1 medications. He refused.
Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne, who recently shared she’s been seeing an older, unnamed man, was upset when her doctor didn’t approve, exclaiming, ‘Just let me live my life!’
She remembered feeling frustrated, like her doctor was encouraging her to enjoy life while simultaneously denying her the medications she needed.
‘Live your best life? Where are my GLP-1s?’
Catania apologized that Mellencamp was turned down when trying to get weight loss medication, but advised him to look into other options, adding she wasn’t sure that advice was good.
Mellencamp added: ‘I mean, I know people where I could get it. I have friends that do it.’
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star offered to begin the process with Mellencamp, saying, ‘I can do it tomorrow if you’d like.’
Catania expressed hope that Mellencamp will fully recover from his stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
Honestly, I got a really bad feeling about what Catania said. He basically accused someone of lying about being seriously ill. He seemed convinced this person wasn’t actually dying, and pointed out that, if they were, the other person would have just encouraged all sorts of reckless behavior – like doing drugs – just to appease them. It was a really disturbing thing to say, and it made me question everything.
In 2022, John Mellencamp was diagnosed with melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Over the following two years of treatment, he had more than 17 surgeries.
In February 2025, she announced she had surgery to remove several brain tumors.
In early 2025, she was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma that metastasized to her brain and lungs.
I received incredible news last October! My doctors reviewed my scans and confirmed there was no detectable cancer. It was such a relief, and a really hopeful moment in my health journey.
But in January, she shared that she was still having health problems, explaining on her podcast that the treatments – medications and immunotherapy – were really hard on her body.
Mellencamp recently shared that tests show no evidence of cancer, though she is still receiving immunotherapy as a preventative measure.
Last month, she also revealed that a new medication triggered Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a rare and severe skin condition, often triggered by a reaction to medication. It typically begins with flu-like symptoms and then develops into a painful, blistering rash, according to the Mayo Clinic.
