David Hasselhoff, known for his role in Baywatch, was seen using a walker in Los Angeles on Wednesday, appearing somewhat weak. However, reports suggest he’s planning a comeback after recovering from an illness.
David Hasselhoff, 73, known for his role as the fit and energetic lifeguard Mitch Buchannon on Baywatch, recently appeared unsteady on his feet while leaving a building with his wife, 45-year-old Hayley Roberts.
The actor, looking much different from his former, glamorous self, was wearing a simple sweatshirt and baseball cap as he walked slowly and with difficulty across a parking lot.
David Hasselhoff recently had both his knee and hip replaced, his representative told the Daily Mail. The surgery is making it difficult for him to move around.
Despite plans for a new Baywatch series, David Hasselhoff hasn’t been seen in public much lately – only once since last July, which has worried his fans.
But a source close to the situation told the Daily Mail that the celebrity is getting better and planning a big return to work.
He’s recovering well and hopes to start acting and making music again soon. Once he’s fully recovered, he plans to jump right back into work, with a particular goal of returning to Baywatch, according to a source.
‘He would love to make another appearance on the show, and getting better will get him there.’
David Hasselhoff is recovering, but it’s been a tough adjustment for him. A source close to the actor said his recent surgeries have been more difficult than he anticipated, especially considering his previously active and healthy lifestyle.
Growing older is difficult, and it’s starting to affect him. Despite recently appearing weak, he’s surprisingly feeling much healthier now.
‘He’s healing and being outside is a relief and the perfect remedy for his current shortcomings.’
The actor was recently spotted hiking with Roberts, and appeared to be using trekking poles to help him get around.
Although his mobility is improving, Hasselhoff still appears to need some assistance from his wife.
Besides helping support his arm, Roberts was also observed standing behind him, appearing to steady him by placing her hands on his waist.
Last July, David Hasselhoff was spotted walking with a limp at an airport while traveling to Cancun, and he mentioned he was planning to have knee surgery.
He was later seen being pushed in a wheelchair by an airline worker.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, the actor’s health was fragile due to years of unhealthy habits, suggesting he might not have much time left.
David Hasselhoff previously battled alcohol problems, and in 2007, a video created by his daughter, Taylor Ann, showing him while intoxicated became public, generating significant media attention.
I was really worried when she talked about how his drinking might mess up his performance in ‘The Producers’ out in Vegas. It seemed like a lot was riding on the show, and I just hoped he’d be okay and not let anything jeopardize it.
After the video came out, Hasselhoff shared that his daughter had filmed it on purpose, wanting to show others how he acted when intoxicated.
A little over a year ago, David Hasselhoff’s second wife, Pamela Bach—who also appeared with him on Baywatch—tragically took her own life at the age of 61.
The two had married in 1989 and divorced in 2006, but remained close.
The actor was deeply saddened by Bach’s passing and expressed gratitude to fans for their kindness and support during this challenging period.
Honestly, despite everything going on in my life and with my health, I’m really focused on getting better. And I’m actually feeling hopeful about maybe being back for the new Baywatch series – I’m doing everything I can to make that happen!
Fox revealed plans in September to revive the popular series with a fresh cast of lifeguards. The new version will have twelve episodes and is scheduled to air during the 2026-2027 television season.
The upcoming series will feature Hobie Buchannon – the son of the original Baywatch captain Mitch Buchannon (played by David Hasselhoff) – taking over his father’s famous leadership role.
But not all fans are thrilled about the reboot.
Fans were surprised and a little let down that only David Chokachi from the original Baywatch was returning for the revival, although Erika Eleniak has been seen filming scenes.
As soon as the first images and videos were released online, people quickly began to criticize the new version, calling it an unoriginal effort to profit from the popularity of the first one.
Adding social media stars like Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader to the cast has increased doubts about the show’s reboot, with many believing it prioritizes online popularity over honoring the original series’ legacy.
Considering the disappointing performance of the 2017 Baywatch movie – even with big stars like Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron – it’s understandable why many fans are feeling anxious about the new project.
Still, Hasselhoff remains optimistic.
According to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail, they’re willing to help the show get back on its feet, should they be asked.
The source said he’s thrilled the show is returning and hopes it captures the spirit of the original. He’d be happy to be involved if it helped bring that magic back.
