Succession star Brian Cox looks unrecognisable as he makes his debut as a retired serial killer on Dexter: Resurrection

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw photos of Brian Cox on the set of the new Dexter series! He looks so different without the power suit and intimidating presence he brings to Logan Roy in Succession. It’s wild to see him taking on a completely new role – a real transformation!

The Hollywood actor has undergone a physical transformation for his new role in the Paramount+ series, and filming began this week. He’s playing a character who uses a wheelchair.

Brian, age 79, has joined the popular show for its second season, where Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as Dexter, a specialist in forensic science.

Uma Thurman, a popular actress, will reprise her role as Charley, and several other cast members – Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Sarif, Dominic Fumusa, and James Remar – are also returning for the show’s exciting new season.

Earlier this year, Brian was confirmed to appear in the new series as Dom Framt, who is known as the ‘New York Ripper’. His character is a retired serial killer.

Brian, looking noticeably older and appearing frail in a wheelchair, began filming on Wednesday in New York City. He sported a large white mustache and glasses for the role.

He first appeared as his character while filming in a run-down, trash-filled area. This followed initial hints about the ‘New York Ripper’ in the first episodes of ‘Dexter: Resurrection,’ which aired in July 2025.

Season two of Dexter: New Blood hints at a thrilling new story where Dexter Morgan is caught between tracking two dangerous killers – a well-known criminal and a completely unexpected threat to New York City – all while also dealing with personal struggles as he gets older.

The story now includes Harrison, Dexter’s son (played by Jack Alcott), as he follows his own path to deliver justice, leading to a challenging new chapter for both him and his father.

The new series will star Brian, along with Dan Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine—a winner of an Emmy Award—and Nona Parker Johnson, all playing original characters.

Last year at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Michael C. Hall, 55, will return to his role as the blood-spatter analyst from the show Dexter.

He previously voiced Dexter’s inner thoughts in the 2025 series, Original Sin, while Patrick Gibson starred as the killer starting his job with the Miami Metro police department.

Paramount Global’s Chris McCarthy announced that Michael C. Hall will be returning as Dexter Morgan in a revival of Showtime’s hit series, which was the network’s most popular show ever.

He explained that while ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ is aimed at the show’s many existing fans, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ will attract a new audience by retelling the story from the very beginning. He believes this fresh start will also please longtime viewers.

Uma Thurman, the star of Kill Bill, will play Charley, the head of security for the enigmatic billionaire Leon Prater.

I’ve been following Charley’s career for a while now, and it’s been amazing to watch her grow. Before becoming Prater’s incredibly capable and detail-oriented right hand – as Deadline reported – she had a fascinating background as a Special Ops officer and then worked a bunch of top-tier private security gigs. She’s always been someone who gets things done, and I’m not surprised she’s become so essential to Prater’s operation.

In January, Michael C. Hall, known for his role in Dexter, hinted at future developments for the franchise during an appearance on Showtime’s Instagram, telling fans to ‘stay tuned’.

Hi everyone! It’s Michael C. Hall here, and I’m thrilled to share that we’ve officially started filming the new ‘Dexter’ series – ‘Dexter: Resurrection’! I just wanted to give a quick update from the set on our first day of production. It’s great to be back!

The actor hinted at an exciting new project in a video, saying they can’t wait for fans to experience it with them and encouraging everyone to keep an eye out for updates.

Following comments from Succession star Brian Cox, who felt his character Logan Roy was written off the show prematurely, he’s shared his opinion on how much longer the character should have remained on screen.

The actor was sad the influential media figure didn’t live to see the show finish, though he wasn’t upset about it. He just wished he’d been able to watch a bit further into the last season, beyond the first few episodes.

He recently spoke at the Oxford Union, where he complimented the show’s finale. He added, ‘While I was glad my character was killed off, I felt it happened one episode too soon, leading to an extra episode focused on less interesting characters.’

As a huge fan, I completely agree with Brian – Jesse Armstrong made the perfect call ending ‘Succession’ when he did. It’s so refreshing to see a showrunner recognize that knowing when to stop is better than dragging things out. They left us wanting more, and that’s a sign of a truly great show!

The experienced actor especially admired his co-star Kieran Culkin, who played his son Roman Roy, noting that Culkin still had the energetic passion often seen in child actors.

He added: ‘It would be terrible to curtail that…

At first, he’d get overwhelmed if he had just three different versions of something. But by the end, he was creating five pages worth of options – it was amazing to see his progress.

Dexter: Resurrection is currently under production for Paramount+.
