Peter Capaldi expressed immense pride in his cousin, Lewis Capaldi, calling him a remarkably talented singer.
The Doctor Who actor, age 68, and the popular singer, 29, are related – they’re second cousins once removed.
Even though they were family, Peter and Lewis didn’t meet until 2018. Peter surprised Lewis by showing up at one of his concerts in London.
Oh my gosh, the next thing he did just broke my heart in the best way! He was in the music video for her song, “Someone You Love” – seriously, it’s so beautiful and sad, I cry every time. But it wasn’t just a video, it was for this amazing charity called Live Life Give Life, promoting organ donation. It made the whole thing even more meaningful, honestly. He’s just perfect!
Peter recently shared some heartfelt thoughts about his well-known cousin, describing him as both ‘brilliant’ and genuinely talented.
He described Lewis as ‘amazing’ and ‘absolutely brilliant’ during an appearance on BBC Sounds’ The Saturday Show.
‘Weirdly, I’m hugely proud of him, even though when he was young I didn’t really know him!
‘But I think he’s an amazing talent, I really do. He’s the real thing and I’m so admiring of him.’
Lewis shared that Peter was a huge inspiration to his family while they were growing up, as they were proud to be related to such a successful person.
He shared with the Record that he learned about a family connection to Peter back in 2018. Apparently, his father and aunts told him Peter is his dad’s second cousin.
Every time he appeared on television, people would inevitably ask if he was related to either Malcolm Tucker or the Doctor from Doctor Who.
We hadn’t met him before, so when my agent told me he was interested in attending my London show, I immediately agreed.
Lewis gushed: ‘He came backstage afterwards to say hello and we had a great chat.
It was great to chat with him about our family history, and he genuinely enjoyed the music, which I appreciated. He’s a really down-to-earth person, and having such a successful family member is incredibly inspiring.
He later shared that it was a ‘huge honour’ to have Peter in his music video, and praised Peter’s performance, saying he was very happy with how the final product turned out.
This follows Lewis Hamilton’s playful response to rumors that he spent the Coachella music festival with Kim Kardashian, which he addressed with his usual sense of humor on Monday night.
A social media account called Distinct Post incorrectly identified the Scottish celebrity as Lewis Hamilton, mistaking him for Kim Kardashian’s partner.
Amused by the error, Lewis reposted the message and commented, ‘Seriously, not okay to invade our privacy like that.’
Some users on X didn’t realize the joke was sarcastic and responded by saying he shouldn’t expect privacy when attending a public event.
Lewis playfully called one person a ‘silly billy’ and jokingly asked another if they were new to Earth, suggesting they seemed to believe they were dating Kim, the 45-year-old reality TV star.
The person who first shared the post about Lewis and Kim explained that they were referring to Lewis Hamilton from the beginning.
They wrote: ‘Guys it was typo. I accidentally promoted Lewis Hamtilon to *Louis Capaldi [sic].’
