After Taylor Frankie Paul investigation, ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ will resume production on Season 5

Filming for Season 5 of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” is starting up again after being paused several weeks ago. The pause came following an investigation into claims of domestic violence involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul, according to The Times.

Production on the Hulu reality show was temporarily halted in March when police in Draper City, Utah, began investigating an incident from February involving Paul and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen. The investigation later expanded to include a separate alleged domestic violence incident between the two that occurred earlier in 2024, and was led by police in West Jordan, Utah. Last week, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office announced they would not be pressing charges against Paul.

This is a breakdown of how the show ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ gained popularity, along with details of the investigations into domestic violence involving Taylor Frankie Paul.

There’s no news yet on when filming will resume or if stars Paul and Mortensen will be back. Besides Paul, the show also features Whitney Leavitt, Jessie Draper, Jen Affleck, Mayci Neeley, and Miranda McWhorter.

Paul was arrested in 2023 following a previous incident involving Mortensen, some of which was shown on the first season of “Mormon Wives.”

Paul shared on Instagram that the process of healing is often difficult. He’s always been open about his own imperfections and acknowledges they’re part of the journey. He described a very public and painful experience – one that happened to him twice, and on a larger scale the second time – as the price he paid for his freedom. He said he wouldn’t want this experience for anyone, not even those who caused it, and that he found a way to express gratitude even while suffering intensely.

After details of the February investigation became public, a video surfaced on TMZ showing Paul throwing barstools at Mortensen during an incident in 2023, while her young daughter was nearby. This led ABC to cancel the premiere of Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette,” just three days before it was scheduled to air on March 22nd.
