Returning spy thriller with Richard Madden and Lesley Manville unveils “action-packed” trailer

Amazon Prime Video just dropped a thrilling trailer for season two of Citadel. The popular spy show, starring Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville, is coming back with new episodes in a matter of weeks.

The series debuted in 2023 and features Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Doomsday, as executive producers.

The series Citadel centers on Mason and Nadia, ex-spies from a powerful, secretive agency. Played by Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, they begin the show with amnesia, having lost their memories after being attacked eight years earlier. They’re pulled back into the spy world by the head of Citadel, Orlick (Stanley Tucci).

In season 2, set for a 6 May release, the trio of spies reunite after a new threat emerges.

After Manticore wiped out most of Citadel’s agents, Orlick needs to assemble a new, highly-trained team. Their mission: to stop the person who invented a technology that can control minds and turn people into killers.

Orlick joins forces with Hutch, portrayed by Jack Reynor (known from Midsommar and The Mummy), along with his partner Celine (Lina El Arabi), and their top agents, Mason and Nadia.

Mason and Citadel are now enemies because Mason was revealed to have betrayed the organization at the end of last season. However, it was his mother, Dahlia Archer—a secret agent working for Manticore (played by Lesley Manville)—who actually manipulated him into doing so.

Nadia’s really convinced we can’t trust Mason, but Orlick just shrugged it off. He basically said, “Look, if there’s one thing Mason Kane is good at, it’s taking lives.” It’s a pretty chilling way to put it, honestly, and it makes you wonder just how much Orlick knows.

This season, the remaining members of Citadel will face a lot of dangerous opponents, including both familiar enemies and new threats. A mysterious figure is supplying this new technology, and Archer is back – despite seemingly dying in the last season.

Returning this season is Ashleigh Cummings, joined by new cast members Matt Berry (known from What We Do In The Shadows), Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Leone, and Rayna Vallandingham.

The complete second season of Citadel, with all seven episodes, will be available to stream on Prime Video starting May 6th. You can watch the first season on Prime Video right now.

The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour 100-page tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
