Sydney Sweeney’s scene in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has ended up on the cutting room floor.
The 28-year-old actress won’t be in the next movie when it comes out on May 1st.
The choice to omit her scene was reportedly due to a creative decision.
I was so excited to hear that Sydney Sweeney was originally going to be in the movie! Apparently, she was meant to appear pretty early on, but they ended up cutting her scene. From what I understand, it just didn’t quite fit with the way the story flowed, structurally. It’s a shame, but I get that sometimes things don’t work out as planned during filming.
The publication reported that the filmmakers appreciated her involvement, which made cutting the scene a tough choice.
The actress from Euphoria appeared as herself in a short, three-minute scene where she received a makeover from Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton.
People first suspected she was in the movie when they saw her at the New York City filming location in August 2025.
Though Sweeney won’t be appearing in the fashion film anymore, Lady Gaga is still likely to have a brief appearance.
The 40-year-old singer also wrote and recorded the song “Runway” with rapper Doechii for the movie’s soundtrack.
The sequel to the 2006 film brings back Anne Hathaway as Andrea Sachs, previously an assistant at Runway magazine. This time, she’s working as a features editor under the demanding Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep).
Priestley was inspired by real life Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
In anticipation of the movie’s release, Streep and Wintour are Vogue’s May cover stars.
Okay, so Anna Wintour told Greta Gerwig – Greta Gerwig, can you believe it?! – that what she loved about the first movie was that it finally, finally showed everyone just how massive and important the fashion industry really is. It’s like, duh, we all knew it, but it was amazing to see it acknowledged on that scale! It was a big deal, honestly.
Okay, seriously, this franchise isn’t just entertainment, it’s a massive economic powerhouse worldwide, and the very first movie totally understood that! Things have definitely changed over the years, obviously, but I don’t see it falling apart. It’s… evolving, you know? And honestly, that’s what matters – it’s still here, and I’m so relieved!
We’re all working, and it’s great that we’re able to connect with so many more people now by using a variety of different methods and platforms.
A leading figure in the industry stated she had complete faith in Meryl Streep for filming the sequel.
Meryl Streep believes the film has finally captured something genuine about the world of business, reflecting on her return to the project after two decades.
The initial Devil Wears Prada film is based on the novel by former Vogue intern Lauren Weisberger.
She described her time working with the renowned publication as ‘crazy.’
Although she worked there for under a year, her experiences at the publication provided the inspiration for a popular film, with Anna Wintour widely believed to be the model for the demanding editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway magazine.
