Emma Forbes shared how she lost 16 pounds, after recently wowing her fans with a before-and-after photo in a swimsuit.
The well-known TV presenter, age 60, who used to host ‘Live and Kicking’, has revealed she lost weight after becoming a qualified nutritionist. She discovered that some foods she believed were healthy were actually harming her health.
Emma discovered through her nutrition studies that cutting out refined sugar is beneficial. Now, she uses fruit instead to sweeten her recipes.
She explained that, in addition to giving up alcohol, she prepares snacks to avoid cravings when she travels. She’s also been working on her fitness with weight lifting and restorative yoga.
Emma always packs snacks with her, like a protein bar, chopped veggies, almond butter, and electrolytes. She mixes the electrolytes with water after going through airport security. She believes that being prepared this way helps her avoid unhealthy food choices.
‘I don’t drink simply because I don’t like alcohol. To me, it tastes like battery acid.’
She shared with Bella Magazine that she began practicing restorative yoga seven years ago, and more recently started weight training. Initially, she was hesitant to lift weights, fearing it would aggravate her existing back problems. However, she now works out twice a week and has seen a significant positive change in her body.
As a lifestyle expert, I often hear people underestimate how tough it can be to ditch refined sugar. One client, Emma, actually described it as being similar to quitting smoking! But the good news is, she found that those intense cravings really started to ease up after about six weeks. It’s definitely a challenge, but totally doable, and you will start to feel better.
I prefer to use fruit to sweeten my baking and cooking. For example, when I make banana bread, I depend on the natural sweetness of bananas, along with cinnamon and vanilla extract.
I’ve completely cut out refined sugar and feel great! It’s shocking how much sugar is added to everyday foods. Now, I love making a healthy snack: dates filled with almond butter, topped with dark chocolate, and then frozen. It tastes just like a Snickers bar!
Oh my gosh, you guys, Emma is just incredible! I was SO proud when she posted that picture on Instagram back in January – she looked amazing! And it wasn’t just about how good she looked, she actually qualified as a nutritionist! I’ve been following her for ages and it’s so inspiring to see her achieve her goals and share her knowledge. Everyone was going crazy in the comments, and honestly, she deserves all the praise!
She shared that she’s starting 2026 feeling great, reflecting on a challenging but rewarding journey to get there. She wishes she’d prioritized her well-being sooner, but is glad she’s making the effort now. She emphasized that it took a lot of support, hard work, and self-commitment to reach this point.
I understood there wasn’t an easy way to reach my goals. I wanted to focus on healthy eating and exercise, but as a permanent part of my life, not just a temporary trend.
I prefer not to use filters on my photos. I’ve been sharing glimpses of my eating and cooking habits throughout the year, and it’s become a real passion of mine. I trained as a nutritionist to expand my knowledge, not necessarily to practice professionally. Honestly, I feel healthier and more energetic now at 60 than I did in my 40s or 50s.
The goal is to keep progressing by setting challenging, yet achievable targets. This includes building strength, improving muscle tone, and maintaining a healthy weight.
Prioritizing sleep and establishing a relaxing bedtime routine are key – it’s about recognizing that all these small habits work together to improve overall well-being.
Everyone has their own way of feeling good, and that’s perfectly okay. But if you’re looking for lasting results, not just a temporary boost, I’m here to share what’s genuinely worked for me.
Emma revealed she made significant changes to her lifestyle after being upset by paparazzi photos of herself in a bikini, despite already being in great shape.
She explained that while she didn’t lose the weight gained during pregnancy after having her children, it wasn’t a concern when they were young. However, she’s now finding it’s a different story as they’ve grown into adults.
I really needed to lose weight; I’d lost touch with who I was and wasn’t paying attention to my own well-being.
She explained that turning 50 felt like a big milestone, and everyone kept asking about a party. But she didn’t want a celebration – she just wanted to make a change. She felt particularly sensitive and open at that age.
Emma has two grown children, Lily, age 30, and Sam, age 27, from her 39-year marriage to Graham, a successful financial expert. She says when her children moved out, it inspired her to start a new chapter in her life.
She explained she felt lost and unhappy after her children left home, and didn’t enjoy being alone with her thoughts and meals. So, she decided to make a big change in her life.
I was really against getting surgery – I didn’t want to end up on a show like ‘Botched’! I realized I needed to prioritize my health, so I made some changes. I cut out sugar and started being much more active – I even started hiking mountains.
