Tom McKay, who played Henry in the video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance and will appear in its 2025 sequel, has said he’d be interested in playing the character again if the upcoming movie adaptation needs him. He seems eager to reprise the role should the chance come up.
Though many know him from video games, McKay is primarily a stage actor with a long history performing for renowned companies like the Royal Shakespeare Company and London’s National Theatre. He’s also appeared in minor roles in film and television. However, his performance as Henry in the 2018 game Kingdom Come: Deliverance really put him on the map. McKay not only voiced the character but also provided the motion capture, creating a nuanced and evolving portrayal of Henry. The buzz surrounding Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 led many to predict McKay would be recognized with an award. While he wasn’t nominated at The Game Awards 2025, he did receive nominations at both the Golden Joystick Awards and the BAFTA Game Awards.
Tom McKay Would Be Open to Playing Henry in KCD Movie Adaptation
At the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards, where he was nominated for his performance, McKay discussed the possibility of reprising his role as Henry of Skalitz in a potential Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie. He clarified that the decision wasn’t up to him, but he’d be eager to return if offered. McKay expressed his love for the complex character and the rich story, stating he would both enjoy being involved and fully support any adaptation, even if he wasn’t part of the cast.
Adam McKay has proven he’s a natural fit to play Henry of Skalitz, but his return to the role hinges on how closely the upcoming adaptation follows the storylines of both Kingdom Come: Deliverance games. While Henry’s exact age isn’t stated, he’s presented as a young adult at the beginning of the series, being a blacksmith’s son. At 46 years old, McKay might be too old for a faithful live-action portrayal. It would be disappointing to lose him as Henry, but it could also create an opportunity for a new actor to bring their own interpretation to the character.
I really enjoy playing that character, and I’d almost certainly do it again if given the chance.
As a big fan of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I’m really excited about the movie! It’s cool that the game’s director, Daniel Vavra, is working on it – he clearly loves the world he created. Unfortunately, it sounds like it’s still early days in development, so we’ll just have to be patient and wait for more updates. I’m hoping we’ll hear something new soon!

With the release of the last downloadable content for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 last year, Henry’s story appears to be over, and the developers at Warhorse Studios haven’t indicated any plans to revisit the series.
