Brooke Shields says sex is ‘painful’ after menopause and she has to use ‘lotions and potions’
Brooke Shields disclosed that she experiences pain during sexual activity following menopause, which is attributed to decreased libido, vaginal dryness, and an unwanted vaginal rejuvenation treatment performed during her previous labia reduction surgery without her consent.
In a personal context, I’ve reached a point where intimacy can cause discomfort, as expressed by the 59-year-old ex-child star in chapter 10 of her recently published memoir titled “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Grow Old.
To savor sex completely at present, I require certain essentials like specific lotions and potions, suitable ‘comfort clothing’ (to avoid using potentially problematic terminology), my preferred pillow, and perhaps a glass of tequila for relaxation.
Brooke added: ‘My doctor suggested I begin using testosterone; however, I haven’t done so just yet. In the meantime, I’m relying on the idea that the more of it I have, the more pleasure I’ll find in it – and for any extra facial hair, there’s always tweezers to help.’
At the age of 22, when Shields lost her virginity to her Princeton University boyfriend, she remembered experiencing a strong sexual desire afterwards. However, she continued to feel restrained.
Reflecting back, the empty nester admitted they never quite managed to satisfy their desire to delve into that experience as fully as intended, expressing a feeling of being held back from it.
I postponed our intimate moments for a prolonged period due to the heavy burden I was carrying. Even after we began our physical relationship, I remained guarded and restrained. If only I had surrendered to my desires then!
In the year 1999, Brooke first encountered her second spouse, Chris Henchy, on the Warner Bros studio lot. They recently marked their 23rd anniversary of married life in April.
35-plus years ago, there are moments where I feign sleepiness, even though I’m aware Chris is in a playful mood. This act, by no means, is about Chris – he’s quite attractive! This was the confession made by Shields.
I’m dealing with all the physical changes that come with getting older as a woman, even in good times. It’s tough to handle things like thinning hair, facial hair growth, weight gain around the midsection, vaginal dryness, and decreased sex drive. And when I’m not wearing makeup or dressed up, I feel less attractive to him than ever before.
Originating from New York City and a former filmmaker in his sixties, these two individuals share the joy of parenthood with their daughters, Grier aged 18 and Rowan aged 21. Both are currently attending Wake Forest University, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Brooke collaborated with Rachel Bertsche on a 256-page work, which marks Brooke’s sixth literary project. The book tour for this project begins at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in Manhattan on Tuesday evening.
In the upcoming comedy “Quarter,” Shields will take on both the role of executive producer and that of Dr. Wright, an overly inquisitive gynecologist. This film, produced by Arnon Manor and Kelsey Bascom, is a diabetes-themed coming-of-age story. Shields’ longtime friend Ali Wentworth, Raven-Symoné, Eric Roberts, and Breckin Meyer are also part of the star-studded cast.
