Love Island: All Stars’ Luca Bish reveals his mother forced him to watch back his series amid misogyny and controlling behaviour accusations as he says new stint is a ‘second chance’

All Stars contestant Luca Bish shared that his mom made him rewatch their 2022 series due to the controversy surrounding how he treated his ex-girlfriend, Gemma Owen.

25-year-old Fishmonger Faced Allegations of Misogyny and Control Over Michael Owen’s Daughter (who was 19 at the time), Leading Some Viewers to Report Complaints to Ofcom.

Following their return to the UK, he expressed regret for certain behaviors and admitted that watching himself on television left him feeling as if he was not the same person.

Prior to his upcoming appearance on ITV2’s dating show next week, Luca disclosed that it was actually his mom who prompted him to reassess his behavior. He openly admitted that he had behaved rather poorly in the past.

As Luca prepares for another shot at finding love on the show, he views this opportunity as a second chance to make amends, reflecting on the valuable lessons he learned from his past encounter.

In conversations with TopMob and other media outlets, Luca shared: “I re-watched it. My mom probably made me do it. There are definitely some fantastic moments that had me laughing out loud, but also parts I questioned, thinking ‘Why are they saying that about me?’ After leaving the villa, you sometimes wonder ‘What’s the reasoning behind these articles?’

He stated that he found it hard to contest the unfavorable comments made about him, expressing instead: “I gained insights from those experiences. The insights we acquire from such situations shape us into who we are today.

During Casa Amor, the sight of Gemma talking with Billy Brown stirred up strong feelings in Luca, leading him to doubt the solidity of their romantic bond.

As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of concern when Gemma found herself in the middle of a heated argument with Luca over allegations of flirtatious behavior towards Billy. In that moment, I, along with many other fans, found myself urging for a separation, believing it was necessary to allow both parties the space they needed to reflect and move forward healthily.

In another instance, he additionally offended fellow islander Tasha Ghouri during the playful Snog, Marry, Pie challenge when both him and regular participant Dami Hope smeared cream pies onto her face.

Pondering his experience on the show, Luca commented: ‘Looking back now, I can’t help but think “what a mistake” – but I’m grateful for the opportunity to return and finally show the genuine side of myself that I couldn’t before.’

‘What I learned is that participating in a game show can be quite different from what you expect. Last time, I was so inexperienced and assumed everyone would become friends and we’d leave as a family. However, things don’t always turn out the way you think they will.’

Additionally, I’d learn various strategies for handling different scenarios, including finding appropriate moments to express my thoughts, as well as avoiding reacting impulsively due to emotions before speaking out.

In my perspective, it seems like growing up played a significant role too. Leaving home for the show happened when I was 22, and I celebrated my 23rd birthday while I was away.

Originally hailing from a bustling fish market and suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar realm, I found myself utterly bewildered. Particularly after Jacques [O’Neill] departed, I began to exhibit a touch of grumpiness and took less pleasure in my journey.

Over the past two years, it seems I’ve come to understand more deeply just how fortunate I was to stay in that villa, surrounded by those incredible individuals. Perhaps now I can stop feeling resentful about my circumstances and instead acknowledge the lessons I must learn from this experience.

While we were chatting, Luca mentioned that he would depart from the villa if his former partner, Gemma, unexpectedly appeared.

The ex-fish seller is eagerly awaiting a second chance at romance on the ITV2 dating program, more than two years following his initial encounter with the stunning 21-year-old.

However, since their separation shortly after finishing as runners-up in the competition, Luca has suggested that there may be no lingering affection between them, humorously implying that he would flee if they encountered each other on the same program.

Luca quipped: ‘I’d walk out! when asked how he’d feel if the influencer strolled through the doors.

Emphasising his point, he then joked: ‘I’d probably say “I’m a Love Islander, get me out of here!”‘

Nevertheless, it appears that he would not object if she considered rejoining the show with a goal to find love. In fact, he expressed his support by saying, “I’d wholeheartedly support her and can only wish for her to have a more successful experience this time around.

In my professional opinion, while some of my fellow island residents like Marcel and Gabby may be considering rekindling relationships with their former partners, I, Luca, am firmly closed to the idea of reconciling with Gemma. For me, it’s a new chapter, a fresh start, and I’m moving forward on my own path.

He commented: “Nope, you may read a book twice, yet its conclusion remains constant. That’s my perspective on such matters, I apologize to Gemma.

The development arises following allegations that Gemma is apprehensive about Luca discussing their split during the program, with Maya Jama returning as host for another round.

According to a source, Gemma has expressed that this situation is not desired, as she’s made efforts over the past year to maintain privacy regarding her personal affairs.

‘Their break-up was shrouded in secrecy and neither has discussed it, but it did not end well.

He suggested that he was taken aback when she announced their split on social media, and now he’s ready to share his side of the story.

ITV has been contacted by TopMob for comment.

Love Island: All Stars returns Monday 13th January at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
