Skeleton Crew: This minor detail about KB could be a major plot point
As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of sci-fi series, I can confidently say that the third episode of Skeleton Crew, “Very Interesting, As An Astrogation Problem,” was a masterclass in subtle storytelling. The brief mention of KB’s medical condition, though easily overlooked, could potentially set the stage for some intriguing narrative twists.
In the third episode of “Skeleton Crew,” titled “Very Interesting, As An Astrogation Problem,” there was a fleeting detail that might significantly impact the storyline as we progress through the season. I initially failed to notice this subtlety myself, but upon watching Star Wars Explained’s review, it was pointed out by Alex Damon and caught my attention.
One of the main child characters, KB, has a serious medical condition.
The story begins with the parents anxiously awaiting news from the enigmatic Supervisor through the Surveillance Droids concerning their children who have gone missing. Initially, one of KB’s parents, Garree, expresses concern as they’ve lost contact with KB’s health tracker. Later, following the Security Droid’s announcement that the Supervisor won’t reach out to the Republic for assistance, Garree passionately appeals to the droid, “Our daughter requires immediate medical attention!
It’s possible that KB wears her visor constantly due to some unspecified medical requirements. This visor might function as a tracking device for her vital signs. Introducing this element could provide more depth for KB’s character in upcoming episodes, as well as spark new storylines for other characters too. The series premiere seemed to lack sufficient backstory for KB, and this development could address that issue.
If she encounters a medical problem when near the rogue Force user Jod Na Nawood, it could prompt him to transform for the better. He advised her in episode 3 to rely on her instincts rather than reason. This advice might come full circle for him. To save her life, he may need to put faith in the Force and let it guide him, which could bring about positive change within himself.
It seems unlikely that this situation would catch Fern off guard, given that she probably already knows about her friend’s condition. In fact, it might be more plausible for her to be the one explaining things if something were to happen with KB. However, I suspect this role will fall to Wim in his storyline instead.
In a sneak peek for an upcoming episode, a picture was shared featuring characters KB and Wim seated on an unidentified planet, devoid of companions from their group or accompanying adults. It seems plausible that this scenario might involve KB experiencing a medical crisis, necessitating Wim to tend to her needs.
In the initial installment, Fern advised Wim to mature. Taking on responsibility for someone else might help him grow. So far, he has been self-centered, much like many youngsters, preoccupied with his personal escapades. He disregarded Neel’s concerns regarding the situation. However, should he find himself alone while KB is unwell, it could present an opportunity for him to rise to the occasion.
For the moment, we need to be patient and observe, but don’t worry, you can always enjoy or re-experience the series “Skeleton Crew” on Disney+ in the meantime.
