Rick Moranis breaks his silence on ending his retirement for Spaceballs: The New One.
A sequel to Mel Brooks’ classic comedy is coming to cinemas on April 23, 2027 – almost 40 years after the first film. Rick Moranis will reprise his role as Dark Helmet, a humorous take on Darth Vader from Star Wars. This marks Moranis’ return to acting after retiring in 1997 following his appearance in Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves!
I was so thrilled to hear Rick Moranis explain at the Spaceballs: The New One Comic-Con panel why he decided to come back! ScreenRant‘s Brandon Zachary was there, and Rick said it just felt like the right moment. He told everyone saying ‘yes’ to the movie was the best decision he’s ever made, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more! It’s amazing to have him back.
