Livid Dianne Buswell shoots down Strictly Come Dancing fan for claiming Chris McCausland ‘has only got through because he’s blind’

As an ardent admirer of the Strictly Come Dancing spectacle, I find myself utterly enchanted by the indomitable spirit and unparalleled resilience of Chris McCausland. The man is not just a comedian; he’s a beacon of hope, a testament to human tenacity, and an embodiment of the power of positive thinking.

Dianne Buswell has responded to a viewer of Strictly Come Dancing who suggested that Chris McCausland hasn’t been eliminated due to his blindness. Instead, she might phrase it as: “Dianne Buswell rebutted a fan’s comment about Strictly Come Dancing, stating that Chris McCausland’s continued presence in the competition is not solely because of his visual impairment.

The 35-year-old dance specialist and the 47-year-old comedian, afflicted by retinitis pigmentosa, have made it to the semifinals following their successful navigation of Musicals Week.

Dianne took issue with one fan of the BBC show who thought Chris was getting the sympathy vote.

In a post on X seen by The Sun, they wrote: He’s only through because he’s blind.’

Responding to the post, she wrote: ‘He absolutely is not!’

Last Saturday, Dianne took up the defense for Chris following Craig Revel Horwood’s critique of his posture during their act.

She said: ‘We mustn’t forget that for 20-odd years Chris’s safe space has been down here, so for him to stand up actually makes me quite emotional.

‘It’s a big thing that we’ve overcome, and you’ve done so well.’

After the public vote, Chris expressed that he was deeply moved by the public’s backing, which he had received.

Here’s my take:

We’ve consistently pushed our boundaries, giving it our all every time. Your votes and backing mean the world to us. The response has truly taken us aback. Sending you a heap of affection, X.

Additionally, ex-Strictly professional dancer Brendan Cole has shared his opinions on the judge’s ratings as they approach the semi-finals.

Last week on the program, I found myself among the contestants being called back, sharing the hot seat with Tasha Ghouri from Love Island – both of us facing elimination as Gladiators star Montell Douglas was sent packing.

Regardless, Montell faced elimination even though he received an identical score from the judges, unlike Chris who was spared by the audience’s votes.

Addressing The Sun, I couldn’t help but express my indignation over the nine points Chris McCausland received from Anton Du Beke. I found it absolutely unjustifiable!

‘He’s supposed to be all about ballroom, but you can easily, as a judge, be swept up in the moment.

Anton seems to imply that by awarding Chris a 9, despite his less-than-stellar performance on the dance floor that evening, he was treating him as everyone else had been evaluated. In simpler words, he was saying Chris was no different from the others in terms of scoring.

‘If you’re awarding additional points due to excitement, it might unfairly affect the final standings. This could potentially relegate someone who deserves to be higher on the leaderboard to the bottom two positions.’
