Whoopi Goldberg has unfortunate Sister Act 3 update after Maggie Smith death
As a seasoned gamer of both cinematic and digital realms, I must confess that the news about Sister Act 3 has left me with a mix of emotions. Growing up, these movies were like my go-to sanctuary during those turbulent teenage years. Maggie Smith’s wit and Whoopi Goldberg’s charm were the holy grail of laughter for many of us.
In a sad turn of events, Whoopi Goldberg has disclosed that there have been changes in the plans for Sister Act 3, as a result of the passing of Maggie Smith.
For quite some time now, we’ve been eagerly anticipating the third installment of the series. It’s been more than three decades since the second film was unveiled.
It was reported that Smith, who portrayed the character of Reverend Mother in the initial two films, passed away in September at the age of 89. Goldberg has disclosed the impact of Smith’s demise on the upcoming sequel’s planning.
She mentioned on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that they need to make some changes since Maggie Smith has recently left the show.
“And so, we will get it done. We will get it done. It just is a shift.”
Previously, Goldberg expressed her desire for Smith’s comeback in the third film, during her guest spot on “Loose Women”.
She mentioned that during her stay, one thing she wanted to achieve was conveying to Maggie Smith that she is portraying the role of Mother Superior, as she feels she can only do it with her.
If you require my assistance to handle this situation, including taking action as necessary, we are fully prepared to follow your lead, Maggie. However, we prefer to work together on this rather than apart.
In 2022, Tyler Perry shared some insights about the progress of Sister Act 3 during an appearance on The View, commenting that he finds the pace at which Hollywood operates slows down more than he’d prefer.
He noted that we have a solid plan in place, and we are well on our way. Our goal is to ensure everyone is aligned and working towards the same objective, which will help us progress smoothly.
