Comedian Peter Kay is coming back to perform in Bolton, his hometown, after a 23-year break.
The 52-year-old actor is going back to his hometown to perform four special shows from July 9th to 11th. He’s doing this to collect donations for the Bolton Hospice.
I’m so excited to share that one of my favorite comedians – known for his brilliantly understated and hilariously dry sense of humor – is adding a show to his 2026 tour, ‘Better Late Than Never’! He’ll now be performing not one, but two shows on Saturday, plus a matinee performance, giving fans even more chances to catch his act. It’s going to be fantastic!
Tickets sold out in under 30 minutes, with over 12,000 people trying to buy them.
Peter Kay last took the stage in Bolton in 2003, where he filmed his hugely popular stand-up show, Peter Kay: Live at the Bolton Albert Halls. That recording remains the best-selling stand-up DVD in UK history.
Peter had already shared that he’ll be giving all the money earned from his 2026 comedy tour to twelve different cancer charities.
He acknowledged that many people have a personal connection to the charities on the list, and expressed hope that the public would continue to support them, as he shared with viewers of The One Show.
‘You don’t even have to like me to come; it goes beyond that.
He explained the event was to raise money for charity, adding with a laugh, ‘If you don’t find it amusing, we’ll refund your donation.’
Peter Kay is continuing his hugely popular ‘Better Late Than Never Again’ tour with new shows scheduled through 2026. He’ll be performing at arenas in cities across the UK, including Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, London, and Manchester.
Just like with his previous show in Bolton, Peter plans to donate 100% of the profits from this one to twelve different cancer charities – he won’t keep any of the money for himself.
The shows have a strict 15+ age limit, and tickets are sold for upwards of £35.
His new shows follow his first time opening up about his dramatic weight loss.
Fans were surprised to see him back in the public eye last year, looking noticeably thinner after being out of the spotlight for five years.
He’s recently been open about a long and difficult struggle with binge eating, describing years of trying countless solutions to overcome it.
The comedian recently opened up about his weight loss journey, explaining he’d tried various methods – including diet groups, hitting the gym, and even following his mother’s old fitness videos – in an effort to get in shape.
Peter revealed in a BBC Radio 2 interview with Sara Cox at The Lowry in Salford that he decided to make a change due to health concerns.
I really did try every diet I could find. I even went to weight loss groups like Slimming World and WeightWatchers, but nothing seemed to work.
He remembered the specific instance that made him recognize his binge eating disorder: secretly leaving a movie theater while with his wife, Susan.
Peter admitted he’d made up an excuse about needing the restroom just to sneak out and grab a hotdog. He explained he was trying to stick to a diet, but his willpower failed him. To make it even funnier, he saw his reflection in a poster for the movie Babe while he was leaving.
I was shocked and thought, ‘You’re doing so great on this diet, it’s almost unbelievable!’ It felt wrong to be feeling disappointed when they were succeeding.
He said that after tossing it in the trash, he quickly snatched it back before it touched the bottom and ended up eating it anyway.
Peter explained his unhealthy eating started in childhood, when his mother used to bring him pies to school.
