Alien: Romulus confirms streaming release date
As a lifelong gamer and ardent fan of the Alien franchise, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming streaming release of Alien: Romulus! Having grown up with the original films, I’ve eagerly anticipated this instalment, set between the events of Alien and Aliens.
As an ardent Alien franchise enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement as we’re mere weeks away from streaming the thrilling new installment, Alien: Romulus.
This year, the film by director and writer Fede Alvarez, known for “Evil Dead” and “Don’t Breathe”, is set to arrive on Hulu in the U.S. on November 21st, after it premiered in cinemas earlier.
It remains undecided when people in the UK can watch the director’s gruesome sequel, but there’s a strong possibility that the movie titled “Romulus” will debut on Disney+ simultaneously.
In the timeframe that spans between the events depicted in the 1979 film Alien and its 1986 sequel Aliens, the story of Alien: Romulus revolves around a band of young settlers who find themselves entangled in an encounter with the Xenomorph.
The actors featured are Cailee Spaeny, who plays Priscilla, David Jonsson from Rye Lane, Archie Renaux known for Shadow and Bone, and Isabela Merced, star of Madame Web.
The movie generally garnered favorable feedback from critics, commending the acting and the film’s faithful tribute to its earlier versions. However, there were some doubts about the decision to digitally recreate the late Ian Holm, who portrayed android Ash in Alien, for the role of synthetic Rook in this new production.
In response to the debate with the Los Angeles Times in August, Alvarez justified the choice by stating: “We weren’t attempting to replicate the acting skills of the original person, as this character is distinct from them.
He explained that initially, they planned to build a mechanical character, but later intended to use computer-generated imagery (CGI) for details like the mouth and eyes, adjusting it based on the specific camera angles.
Then came the query, ‘What does it look like? Who is it?’. The intriguing individual who hadn’t returned yet was Ian Holm.
The movie “Alien” will begin streaming in the United States on Hulu starting November 21. As for its release date in the UK, that has yet to be confirmed. However, you can already rent or purchase it digitally from platforms like Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and more in the UK.
