Kylo Ren seeks answers about Darth Vader's past in Star Wars: Legacy of Vader

As a Star Wars fan with a lifetime of immersion in the galaxy far, far away, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming comic book series, “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader.” Set during Kylo Ren’s time as Supreme Leader, this series promises to fill an unknown gap in the sequel trilogy that has long intrigued us fans.

A mystery surrounding the sequel trilogy involves Kylo Ren’s tenure as the Supreme Leader of the First Order. This aspect of his life will soon be unraveled, as we’re eagerly anticipating the forthcoming comic book series for answers!

StarWars.com has announced that the series “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” will debut on February 5, 2025. This upcoming series is written by Charles Soule, who previously wrote the miniseries “The Rise of Kylo Ren” in 2019. The artwork for the series will be handled by Luke Ross. Set during the latter part of the sequel trilogy, between “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker,” this story follows Kylo Ren as he explores his past.

The comic book series commences by showcasing Ren delving into his grandfather’s castle on Mustafar, a location well-known to fans who followed Soule’s 2017 run in the Darth Vader comics. As reported by StarWars.com, subsequent episodes will zero in on Ren uncovering details about his family history on Tatooine. A key theme of the series revolves around Kylo Ren’s quest to forge a bond with Darth Vader.

Soule expressed his enthusiasm with StarWars.com about exploring Kylo Ren’s tale during this specific time period, explaining that “Kylo is in a state of profound confusion at this point. In a brief space of time, he has clashed with two influential mentors (one of whom is his uncle), murdered his own father, came close to killing his mother, seized command of a galactic army that he’s unsure how to wield, and naturally, developed a strong bond with another Force-user named Rey. All these events are turbulently churning within him, making him emotionally unstable, furious, exasperated… potentially dangerous. He’s seeking any semblance of guidance he can find — even if he won’t acknowledge it — and so he relies on almost the only thing left to him, the legacy of his grandfather, the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Making Darth Vader a part of the current Marvel Comics series is an exceptionally clever decision, given that the comic universe is now set in the post-“Return of the Jedi” timeline. It was difficult to imagine how they could exclude such a beloved character as Darth Vader from this new era. This move ensures his continued presence in these comics.

🤩 Exciting news for Star Wars fans like me! The long-awaited “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” is hitting the shelves on February 5, 2025, right at your friendly neighborhood comic book store or wherever you usually grab your digital comics. Can’t wait to get my hands on it!
