Game of Thrones star Hannah Murray (Gilly) releasing “astonishing” memoir

This shy girl born under harsh conditions beyond the Wall transformed into a woman of strength, intellect, and grace as the series unfolded.
Currently, the publishing rights for Emily Murray’s upcoming memoir titled “The Make-Believe” have been acquired by Hutchinson Heinemann following a competitive 13-publisher bidding war. This fierce competition can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, being a prominent cast member in seven out of eight seasons of the hit series “Game of Thrones,” Murray is expected to share compelling behind-the-scenes stories that fans are eager to read about.
The Make-Believe represents a heartfelt narrative that has been tucked away within me for numerous years, and I now feel an urgent desire to let it be heard,” Murray expressed in a statement. “I’m incredibly excited about collaborating with Helen Conford, whose interpretation of the book resonates perfectly with my own vision. I am thankful to Helen and the entire team at Hutchinson Heinemann for their faith in this book and its tale, and I eagerly anticipate our upcoming collaboration.
According to Hutchison Heinemann’s account, the book delves into Murray’s encounters with an unfamiliar wellness cult, a topic I was previously unaware of.
This is the story of the blurred line between what is real, and what is an illusion; what we must accept and what we wish to be true; between solid earth beneath your feet and a world where anything is possible if you only commit. It is about the lure of those that tell us they can save us, and the deceptive structure of organizations that promise us ‘wellness’. It’s about the acting world, but also about the way all of us act, hiding our vulnerabilities from everyone except the people trained to prey on them.
The fictional work titled “The Make-Believe” is set to hit UK shelves in the summer of 2026; however, it’s unclear if it has been licensed for distribution in the U.S. yet. In the interim, Murray isn’t the only former “Game of Thrones” cast member penning a memoir. Lately, Kristian Nairn (known as Hodor on the show) published “Beyond the Throne: Epic Journeys, Enduring Friendships, and Surprising Tales,” a book detailing his life with an emphasis on his time in the series.
Since the conclusion of Game of Thrones in 2019, it appears that Murray has not been heavily involved in film or TV projects, with only one significant role being in the horror series The Expecting in 2020. It’ll be intriguing to discover if this book will open a new chapter in her professional journey.
