Norwegian Rain and Unimatic are collaborating again, this time to mark two special anniversaries: Unimatic’s 10th and Norwegian Rain’s 15th. Continuing their tradition of combining modern, minimalist design with practical, high-quality construction, they’ve created a limited-edition pair of GMT watches. The watches feature a unique design inspired by the natural process of oxidation and emphasize the brands’ dedication to sustainability, using recycled materials and handcrafted details.
The newest collection includes two watch models, called “The Alex” and “The T.” Both have 40mm stainless steel cases with a brushed finish. “The Alex” features a black dial, bright markers, and a striking orange hand for tracking a second time zone. “The T” has a gray dial with understated details, reflecting the brand’s focus on colors inspired by the weather. Both watches include a rotating bezel that makes it easy to track time in multiple time zones, ideal for travelers.
These watches draw their design from the way copper ages naturally and the durable look of military equipment. Each watch face starts as a copper sheet that’s carefully treated to create a unique, darkened finish. This process, which uses salt and ammonia, gives the copper a pre-aged look – richer and more consistent than bare copper, but with subtle variations that mean every watch is one of a kind.
The watch features a distinctive strap made from a repurposed Norwegian military field tent. This durable canvas, originally called “Knappetelt,” adds a rugged, historical touch, connecting Norway’s military past with the watch’s Italian craftsmanship and functionality, including its power reserve.
The Norwegian Rain x Unimatic collection is released in strictly limited numbers as part of a high-demand collaboration initiative. Both watches are priced at €1,290 EUR (approx. $1,515 USD) and will be available for pre-order through Norwegian Rain’s
