Netflix viewers outraged after promised series disappears: ‘They gaslighted us’

As a long-time subscriber and ardent fan of Netflix, I must admit that I have been left quite perplexed by their recent faux pas regarding the much-anticipated release of Detroiters. Having spent countless hours scrolling through their extensive library of content, I can confidently say that this kind of programming snafu is not something I’ve encountered before.

Netflix has been slammed after a promised cult TV hit show failed to drop on time.

The American comedy show Detroiters, scheduled to premiere on October 15, has been unexpectedly taken off the release calendar by the streaming service, with no reason given.

The comedy series featuring Tim Robinson from “I Think You Should Leave” and comedian Sam Richardson was finally released for US viewers on October 16th.

Fans in Australia can now stream all episodes of the Comedy Central production on Paramount+, as they’ve been made available.

Meanwhile, as of Thursday, Netflix Australia has not updated its schedule to include Detroiters.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Netflix for comment.

I, as a devoted fan, found myself puzzled when Netflix announced through their social media channels that Detroiters would be available for streaming on October 15th, only to discover later that there seems to have been an error in their programming schedule.

Starting in 2017 on Comedy Central in the U.S., Detroiters revolves around a less-than-polished advertising agency named Cramblin Duvet, and their modest clientele based in Detroit.

In September, Netflix announced in a tweet that the show would land on the streamer in October.

According to the official announcement from Cramblin Duvet, Detroiters Seasons 1 & 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 15th!

When the show failed to show up on the steaming service, fans were left fuming. 

‘The show was supposed to debut on Netflix today,’ said a Reddit user on Wednesday.

They mentioned that the show didn’t appear as expected, and Netflix removed the promotional content for it from their social media platforms.

Another Reddit user claimed that the streamer was ‘gaslighting’ fans.

Yesterday, I had a conversation via private message with a representative from Netflix, and they attempted to mislead me by claiming that Netflix hadn’t announced its arrival on their U.S. platform on October 15th.

They continued: ‘They tried saying the announcement & Tweet I saw was for countries [outside] of the US.’

Fans of the show also took to Twitter to complain.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve generally steered clear of the Twitter realm, but here I am, venting my frustration! It’s absolutely baffling how Netflix and Netflix Australia fail to deliver on their promises. I’m referring to the long-awaited streaming of Detroiters, which they announced but seem to be treating as a joke, and that’s simply unacceptable!

‘Where. Is. Detroiters. at Netflix? You lied!’ moaned another disappointed fan.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my enthusiasm for the brilliant comedy series, “Detroiters,” co-created by Sam Richardson, Tim Robinson, Zach Kanin, and Joe Kelly. From its debut in 2017 to its conclusion in 2018, it spanned two seasons and a total of 20 episodes.

Fans were also left devastated when Comedy Central failed to renew it for a third season in 2019.

Currently, Tim Robinson’s sketch series “I Think You Should Leave” is enjoying success and can be found streaming on Netflix Australia.
