NetEase Games is getting ready to launch its new ocean adventure RPG, Sea of Remnants, in China. They’ve begun recruiting players for a closed beta test and announced the game is expected to release in the third quarter of 2026.

Players can now pre-register for the upcoming “Dawn Test” through the game’s official social media pages, which recently launched for the region.

Explore pirate cities, islands, sea monsters, and dynamic oceans in Sea of Remnants

Sea of Remnants, first shown during PlayStation’s State of Play last year, is being created by Joker Studio, the developers of Identity V. The game quickly gained popularity due to its unique art style—resembling a comic book—combined with ocean exploration and a pirate setting.

Sea of Remnants is an open-world RPG set on the ocean. You play as a sailor who’s lost their memory, traveling with a mysterious girl to uncover the past. As you journey, you’ll explore treacherous waters, unusual islands, pirate towns, ancient ruins, and encounter colossal creatures hidden throughout the world.

This game features a huge cast of over 300 characters, known as ‘puppetfolk,’ and several different groups whose reactions will change based on the choices you make. You’ll be able to forge alliances, create rivalries, and personalize your ships with a variety of weapons and upgrades. Then, you can build teams to fight in both turn-based battles and exciting naval combat.

Sea of Remnants has been approved for release in China, and NetEase plans to officially launch the game in the third quarter of 2026. Players in China can sign up for testing on the game’s website.

Okay, so we don’t have a firm date yet, but the developers are aiming to launch in China between July and September 2026. As for the rest of us, there’s no news on when we might get a beta or even a release date outside of China, so I’ll be checking the official global website regularly for updates. Hopefully, it won’t be too long!
