Snag the first 'Star Wars: Reign of the Empire' book at NYCC 2024

As a seasoned gamer and Star Wars fanatic who’s been through more than one lightsaber battle in my lifetime, the prospect of getting my hands on an advance copy of Alexander Freed’s “Star Wars Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear” is nothing short of galactic. I’ve been following this trilogy’s development with bated breath since its announcement earlier this year, and the opportunity to delve into the early years of the Empire through the eyes of Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and Bail Organa is a dream come true.

You can get an early copy of Alexander Freed’s new Star Wars novel, but it requires a trip to New York (plus additional costs).

At New York Comic-Con 2024, attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to preview “Star Wars Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear” ahead of its public release in 2025, making them among the first to experience this anticipated comic book.

At New York Comic Con, the process is straightforward. Upon arrival, simply make your way to the Random House Worlds booth and say, “Mon Mothma needs your help.” If they’re still in stock, the book will be yours!

It was previously announced that the “Reign of the Empire” book series, which includes the first book written by Alexander Freed (similar to the “Alphabet Squadron” trilogy), is set in the timeframe between the events of “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope”. This epic tale, penned by three different authors, covers a significant time span across its three books. The narrative primarily follows Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and Bail Organa as they maneuver through the rapidly evolving galaxy under Imperial rule.

In contrast to the numerous Star Wars tales set during this era, fewer books have been written that take place during the Empire’s early years, particularly those focusing on individuals who eventually play significant roles in the rebellion. These characters truly warrant more narratives, and with skilled authors like Freed, Rebecca Roanhorse, and Fran Wilde at the helm, we can anticipate exciting developments.

If you’re lucky enough to go to NYCC in the coming days, don’t forget to grab a copy of the first book from the series, whether it’s for you or as a gift for someone else. The decision is all yours!
