After launching successful spin-offs like Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force, Power quickly became one of the most popular crime dramas on cable television. Though it didn’t quite reach the critical acclaim of shows like The Sopranos and The Wire, Power was still a major success, winning Outstanding Drama Series at the 50th NAACP Image Awards in 2019. Its first spin-off, Power Book II: Ghost, also received this honor in 2021.

These series are truly outstanding, thanks to their engaging characters, insightful look at LGBTQ+ life in Japan, and strong writing. Yuri stories are gaining more attention, with many popular manga now being adapted into anime.

For months, there have been whispers about who would take on the role of Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman’s passing. Now, Marvel Studios has confirmed that David Jonsson will be the next T’Challa – a casting choice many are happily celebrating as a respectful way to honor Boseman’s memory and move the story forward. Although Black Panther III is still some time away, this recast is arguably the most significant in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This creative pair has consistently produced popular songs, and their latest release, “I Will Find You,” is no exception. Released on June 18th, the song quickly gained traction and, according to Tudum, has already landed a spot in the Top 10 Most Popular songs.

Spy shows are popular again, largely because streaming services are investing more money and taking bigger risks with their productions. There’s a lot to choose from now, including hits like Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness and the four seasons of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on Prime Video. Prime Video also offers newer series such as the 2024 reboot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and the ambitious – though somewhat controversial – Citadel franchise.
