Amanda Abbington will never stop slinging mud, fears Giovanni: Tormented star reveals his next move against the BBC and Strictly after 'white wash' report, reveals KATIE HIND

As a longtime fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say I am saddened by the departure of Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice. Having watched this show for years, I can honestly say that their dynamic was one of the most entertaining and captivating partnerships I’ve ever seen on the dance floor.

Striding gracefully down some red-velvet steps accompanied by his elegant dance companion, Giovanni Pernice gleamed with joy.

Under the azure Roman skies, I eagerly shared my anticipation for my upcoming dance appearance on Ballando Con Le Stelle, Italy’s equivalent to Strictly Come Dancing.

On Instagram, Pernice shared with his followers that his initial week on the show, teamed up with actress Bianca Guaccero from Italy, was smooth sailing, and they’re excited about their upcoming second act together.

Friends noted it was an encouraging day for Giovanni. Earlier, he received news that only six out of 17 accusations made by Amanda Abbington against him had been substantiated during a thorough six-month BBC investigation. In his opinion, the most severe charges she presented were not validated.

It appeared that he was now ready to leave behind the troublesome incident which led him to withdraw from this season’s competition during the Saturday evening performance.

However, that initial optimism soon faded. Within a day of the BBC’s report being released, the actress herself gave interviews where she mentioned that the allegations against Pernice had been dismissed previously.

One particularly damaging one was that 34-year-old Pernice would ‘outline his erection’ when she got a dance move right; another, that the dancer had allegedly told Amanda she was a ‘menopausal woman and I’d still f*** you’.

To put it simply, after examining numerous hours of practice videos, the BBC’s review uncovered no proof of the suggested gestures, and they also failed to discover any substantiation for accusations that Pernice uttered such offensive language.

Friends claim this week has added to the Sicilian dance sensation’s already tarnished reputation, causing him immense distress. They describe it as a tough period in his life, and express concern that the accusations against him might persist indefinitely, painting him with an unremittingly negative brush.

A trusted individual near Pernice shared with me: ‘Giovanni has endured a difficult period. For over half a year, he’s been confronted with stories about himself that weren’t accurate. Worse still, when the inquiry’s findings were revealed, it showed that Giovanni wasn’t responsible for the actions Amanda or her companions had claimed in the media.’

However, when he believed the situation was resolved and could proceed, Amanda continued to make more offensive sexual remarks about Gio, which the BBC’s investigators found unsubstantiated. This led to a renewal of stress, as she appeared to evade questioning on matters not supported by the BBC’s HR department during her interviews.

‘He just can’t see why any of this is fair. It’s like he is being tormented.’

Friends of Pernice are eager to clarify that he prefers not to present himself as someone who is being wronged or harmed by recent accusations.

However, as reported, it’s been challenging for him when others believe things about him that he maintains are false.

The friend remarks, “It seems clear that Amanda understands the inappropriateness of discussing sexual matters regarding him, doesn’t she?” or “Doesn’t it strike Amanda as wrong to make such comments about him, given their nature?” or “One would think Amanda realizes how inappropriate it is to discuss sexual topics concerning him.

And worst of all for Pernice is not knowing when it might end – if at all.

‘It is becoming absolutely ridiculous and really quite devastating,’ the source said.

For Pernice, it’s especially disheartening that several criticisms sustained against the dancer appeared rather mild or insignificant.

As a devoted admirer, I acknowledge that certain aspects of his coaching approach were criticized due to intense conversations containing strong language. To illustrate, during one such exchange, Pernice expressed frustration towards Amanda by saying, “I’ve had enough, if you wish to appear unattractive, it doesn’t concern me.

Additionally, another point validated was about Pernice commenting to the actress, “Your talent is immense and yet, it seems underutilized.

During another outburst, Pernice exclaimed loudly with an expletive and raised his arms while demonstrating a routine to her.

However, it wasn’t just him who used offensive language. As I disclosed last week, the panel found that Ms Abbington was the one who employed the ‘c-word’ in the rehearsal footage, and she also referred to her dance partner as a “jerk,” an “idiot,” and a “fool” in their WhatsApp conversations.

Surprisingly, it turned out that Amanda was found to be the one who initiated the use of inappropriate language, as determined by the examination conducted by the BBC’s investigation team.

Abbington has also openly admitted to using such language – and to finding it funny.

A previously hidden video, now available on the video platform TikTok, shows an actress extolling her ‘wonderful’ partner Pernice while joking about the frequent profanity they exchanged during their practice sessions.

In the clip, Abbington mentions, “Giovanni and I engaged in some hilarious games. However, it’s crucial to note that we tend to use strong language quite frequently.

We’re quite fond of colorful language; it seems to be a constant in our interactions. We often use phrases like “darn” and “gosh,” which somehow manage to amuse us. And I adore the rhythm of our banter, our dance if you will.

“This fellow is simply outstanding as a choreographer; his work is stunningly beautiful. I can hardly wait, as it promises to be delightful, enjoyable, and full of fun. It’s shaping up to be an exceptional experience.

So what, then, could be the next chapter in this messy tale?

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my feelings about the situation unfolding between Pernice and Abbington. To put it plainly, his discontent seems to have reached boiling point, and there are whispers that he’s contemplating taking legal action. However, he hasn’t shut the door on this possibility entirely.

Subsequently, we find the BBC. On the day of the report’s publication, the Corporation issued an apology to Abbington and expressed gratitude for her bringing forth her complaints. However, two days later, during an interview with Victoria Derbyshire from the BBC, no intervention was made when Abbington raised a claim that had not been substantiated in the report.

One friend of the star claims, ‘The BBC let a biased report pass, giving Amanda the impression that she clearly won. However, she didn’t truly win.’

Indeed, it undeniably caused frustration and dismay for Giovanni. This situation, however, provided him with the opportunity to craft a story.

People have shared that BBC staff are deeply saddened because he won’t be participating in Strictly Come Dancing this year, and they believe that Pernice was compelled to withdraw from the competition.

Devoted spectators share similar sentiments. One expressed last week: “BBC, bring Giovanni Pernice back next year! Show some courage! He’s your finest dancer! If you let him go without a fight, it could mean the end of Strictly…

But whatever is going on in the background, Pernice may yet end the year on a high.

Currently sitting at the top of Ballando Con Le Stelle’s leaderboard, he is favourite to win.

And that would not only be a fitting riposte to his former employers – but to Ms Abbington, too.

Last night, Samba Samantha Quek and her partner Nikita Kuzmin danced an electrifying samba, illuminating the dance floor with their moves. They earned a total of 28 points for their performance to Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie. Nick Knowles made his return to the competition after being sidelined by an injury last week.

“He and Luba Mushtuk earned a score of 21 for their rendition of ‘Rain On The Roof’ from Paddington 2 as Charleston. Judge Motsi Mabuse commented to him, ‘It takes great courage that you returned.’

‘Gio and me, we swear a lot’, star told fans

A recently discovered video features actress Amanda Abbington extolling the virtues of her exceptional partner, Giovanni Pernice, while jokingly recounting their frequent use of strong language during rehearsals, which left them both in fits of laughter.

Earlier this month the former Sherlock actress, 50, accused her one-time Strictly Come Dancing partner over an ‘ongoing litany of being verbally abused’ during an interview with BBC’s Newsnight.

However, a video that’s been re-shared on TikTok shows Ms Abbington in a car following a rehearsal with Pernice (34 years old). In the video, she expresses her admiration for him to her Instagram followers, saying how delightful her day was. She stated, ‘Giovanni and I played some amusing games.’

Let’s watch our language carefully as Giovanni and I tend to use it quite frequently. Our swearing habit is quite pronounced and seems to be a constant occurrence. We often use words like ‘eff’ and ‘blind’, which bring about laughter between us. But, I adore our unique dance.

He’s simply outstanding as a choreographer, and he’s just fantastic, having crafted something truly enchanting. It promises to be breathtakingly beautiful, delightful, and enjoyable, and I can hardly wait! It’s a marvelous journey, much like I described earlier. We performed our dance for the first time in the studio – three times for the cameras. I adore our dance; it’s a captivating creation.

During the dispute between Ms. Abbington and Pernice about name-calling, the BBC found evidence from investigation of numerous hours of rehearsal footage that suggests it was only Ms. Abbington who used the offensive ‘c-word’.

The assessment revealed that the two individuals frequently resorted to insults and profanity when interacting with each other.

Although it seemed like Ms Abbington was getting along well with Mr Pernice, she unexpectedly departed from Strictly Come Dancing during week six, explaining her exit through personal matters.
