Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper loses THOUSANDS of followers after surprise Kamala Harris interview
As a seasoned observer of political campaigns and someone who’s navigated my fair share of public scrutiny in my own career, I find myself intrigued by Bethenny Frankel’s perspective on Kamala Harris’ recent interview with the Call Her Daddy podcast.
After the unexpected interview of Alex Cooper with Kamala Harris on her Call Her Daddy podcast, she has experienced a significant decrease in her number of followers on Sunday.
The media personality, 30 – who recently broke her silence over the podcast episode – was soon slammed for her ‘softball’ questioning and for making her show ‘political’ during the sit down interview.
According to Newsweek, Cooper’s follower count dropped across her social media accounts.
According to Social Blade, a website that tracks social media activity, Alex experienced a decrease of 5,000 followers on her personal Instagram account and 3,302 followers on the primary page of her podcast, within one day after the interview was broadcasted.
On Tuesday, she picked up 2,500 new followers on her personal Instagram account and 1,719 followers on the podcast’s account. This meant a net decrease of 4,083 followers across both Instagram accounts over a period of just two days.
Nevertheless, since Social Blade’s tracking data only extends to mid-September, it remains unclear whether Cooper had encountered a comparable decrease in followers following any previous interviews.
Shortly following the broadcast of the episode, Cooper faced intense criticism from both fans and viewers, with some accusing the content as being biased or manipulative.
One person remarked, “‘And here is a place I won’t return,'” while another said, “I used to adore this podcast, but now I groan, ‘Ugh.’
A fan expressed their dismay, stating that the content appears to be more like propaganda attempting to portray her as Generation Z. They foresee regretting this decision if it leads to conflict in the future, sighing deeply and shaking their head in disbelief. Clearly, they have lost a significant amount of respect for your actions.
One said, ‘Wow shame on you! You sold your soul on this one while people need help you had this lady in a podcast. What a joke, I hope everyone unfollows you and no one watches your crap podcast again.’
Option A: ‘Finished! This was my top-favorite podcast. I’m completely appalled.’ (Paraphrased from the first comment)
Others came to Alex’s defense, with one writing, ‘Alex is going down in history for this one omg.’
‘Imagine boycotting someone for having a presidential nominee on their show. You should be proud of your girl. You don’t have to like and agree with every guests,’ a fan added.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I’ve found myself in a situation where I needed to clarify some points following an interview I had with Kamala Harris. The conversation seemed to spark a bit of controversy, leading to feedback from listeners that necessitated a reevaluation and subsequent defense of the discussion.
Critics have pointed out the gentle nature of the questions asked, as well as the fact that Harris appeared less knowledgeable or prepared on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the federal government’s handling of Hurricane Helene.
Many listeners threatened to cancel their subscription to her popular American podcast, a promise they made due to their dissatisfaction with its content.
Following the broadcast of the show, Cooper quickly shared a backstage video on Instagram detailing that she wasn’t able to touch upon all policies with Harris, instead deciding to primarily concentrate the interview on women’s concerns.
‘I totally understand everyone has different political opinions, but I feel really good that the entire episode is about women.’
In the video, Cooper introduces, ‘I’m going for an interview with the Vice President of the U.S.’ He then casually adds, ‘Just another chat… no big deal.’
Initially, when I embarked on Call Her Daddy, I never envisioned myself having a conversation with the vice president. Yet, as life has a way of surprising us, I’ve learned to aspire for greatness by saying, “Shoot for the stars, my friends.
The host guided viewers step by step through her preparations before the interview, which included setting up a comfortable chat amidst the rain, all while her team was restoring the studio back in Washington D.C.
Following the tour, Cooper was informed that her interview with Harris would need to be postponed for more than five hours due to some pressing national affairs that Harris needed to handle.
After getting the call to start the show, Cooper said she was ‘nervous and excited.’
She acknowledged that she would strive her utmost, saying, “I understand not everyone may agree with what I express or actions I take, but rest assured, we’ll continue with ‘Call Her Daddy.’
As soon as Cooper encountered Harris and exchanged a handshake, the scene transitioned to her musings following the interview at Dulles Airport. “I’ve never experienced an interview moving along quite so swiftly,” she remarked.
In response to those who questioned the interview’s line of inquiry, Cooper acknowledged that she wasn’t able to touch on every policy point with the Vice President. However, she explained her strategy by stating that her aim was to maintain the conversation’s focus on women’s issues.
‘I did what I knew would apply to the Daddy gang,’ she continued. ‘And I talked about women.’
‘I totally understand everyone has different political opinions, but I feel really good that the entire episode is about women.’
But while Cooper said she felt ‘really good’ about the episode, some viewers disagreed as they slammed the decision to turn her popular podcast political.
Additionally, she encountered criticism due to her actions of inviting Donald Trump for an interview and choosing to wear a hoodie during the discussion – a style she often adopts on her program. However, some viewers believed that she ought to have dressed more formally for the event instead.
During the interview, Harris steered clear of the usual explicit, sexual themes that are common in the show, instead focusing on discussing these topics with Cooper. The latter gave Harris the opportunity to reiterate her familiar views on reproductive rights and student loan issues.
She expressed about their blended family, which includes her husband Doug Emhoff and his two grown children, saying: “We don’t live in the 1950s any longer. We have families through birth ties and familial affection.
Harris responded to J.D. Vance’s remarks concerning ‘cat lady childless women’ governing the nation by stating: ‘I simply find it unkind.’
The recent interview represents one more step in the vice president’s unconventional approach to public appearances, as she continues her campaign for the presidency.
Just prior to her appearance on Call Her Daddy, the Vice President had a chat with ex-basketball players Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes during a special episode of their All the Smoke podcast. This interview, which spanned approximately 45 minutes, covered a broad range of topics.
In the broadcast on Monday, they delved into various subjects including Harris’ allegiance towards the Golden State Warriors, as well as touching upon several other matters such as policies, her personal life, and her racial background.
Instead of facing harsh questioning from reporters about critical issues, Harris prefers to engage with more amiable platforms in her efforts to connect with voters nationwide, which has drawn criticism.
After wrapping up my recent interview, I couldn’t help but share my own insights on the matter, much like Bethenny Frankel did in one of her latest TikTok videos.
At some stage, the TV presenter highlighted the poor timing of the interview because of the fallout from Hurricane Helene, which was set to hit land too, and conflicts occurring globally.
At the moment, she appeared on that specific podcast, implying a subtle “I’m available” or “choose me,” as Bethenny explained.
‘And I think that candidates overestimate the association with celebrity.’
Previously, it had been Kris Jenner, then Katy Perry, followed by Jon Bon Jovi, but now it seems to be Jay-Z and Beyoncé on the bus. This rotation of celebrities might deter people because many ordinary individuals are struggling with financial hardships such as affordability issues or have lost their homes.
Or, for those whose families are engaged in conflict, they pay little heed to whom celebrities connect with or support politically.
‘I believe Taylor Swift significantly influences people to vote, which is commendable. However, I suspect that this association with her as a celebrity might have an adverse effect. It seems to be a turn-off for many members of the public and average voters.’
Later, she commented, ‘I believe the timing of it was daring. This isn’t related to any political affiliations or who you’re supporting in an election; rather, it’s about whether it’s smart for business branding and communication in the current moment.’
Bethenny described the Call Her Daddy podcast as having a “charming” quality, but she felt that under the current circumstances, it didn’t appear to be suitable for her.
It appeared slightly uncomfortable, which somewhat diminished her perceived charisma. If she were in a challenging interview instead, it would potentially make for a more intriguing scenario.
Frankel noted, ‘Her performance is more captivating during the debate when she successfully concludes her arguments, rather than appearing in the chair attempting to win favor by saying, “I wish to socialize with the popular group and gain their approval.” I believe it failed to connect with its intended audience.’
