Nine months ago, the model shared her diagnosis through a heart-wrenching Instagram post, and since then, she’s been keeping her followers informed about the true challenges of caring for someone with Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
However, despite her efforts to stay optimistic, this Welsh woman openly confessed that the passing of her father eight years ago has had a significant impact not only on her but also on her family members as well.
But she added that her focus right now is on ‘making memories’ as a family.
Imogen and her sister have been caring for her mother for more than a year following her MND diagnosis but revealed that it has been difficult for her.
She said: ‘When you have someone so close to you diagnosed with MND it’s a massive game-changer.’
‘It’s a really awful inhumane disease and we know what’s to come which is painful every day.’
I’m utterly devastated and feel incredibly wronged. My father has recently passed away, but now learning about her terminal illness only adds to the pain – it feels like I’ve been doubly struck by misfortune.
This is quite a significant shift in life, and I’d rather focus on dealing with it positively instead of complaining. After all, they are your parents, and you care for them deeply. However, let me tell you, it hasn’t been easy.
The model confessed that at times, she experiences feelings of envy when observing families who are physically capable, but she quickly follows these feelings with guilt.
She expressed that there are certain days when she weeps herself to sleep, feeling as though something has been taken from her. Seeing other mothers and daughters out shopping can stir feelings of envy within her, but she wonders if she should.

Currently, the attractive woman with dark hair is prioritizing comfort for her mother and endeavoring to journey extensively whenever she can.
Imogen remarked: ‘We cherish the moments we create, and who knows when that might end and we can no longer create new ones.’
But the mother-of-two explained that travelling with a disability is extremely difficult.
She said that the family ‘always dread the plane’ and described one instance where staff left her and her mother Janet sat in the cabin for 45 minutes after all the other passengers had disembarked.
She said: ‘They just forgot about us. And it was difficult keeping her spirits high.’
Boarding the plane can be quite challenging due to my mother’s condition. She has lost sensation and control on her left side, which requires a significant amount of assistance. If we end up being among the last to board, people tend to stare, making us feel uncomfortable. This situation leaves my mum in tears as she dislikes being the center of attention.
‘And it doesn’t matter how hard I try and I call the airlines, it doesn’t make a difference.’
‘You don’t get treated like a person, you’re treated like a piece of cargo.’
Additionally, the model outlined hotels marketing themselves as accessible for individuals with disabilities; however, upon arrival, she discovered either broken or non-existent specialized amenities.
In simpler terms, the celebrity mentioned that this situation brought on extra stress and concern, which were unexpected during what was intended to be a tranquil occasion.
On their recent trip to Spain, she detailed an incident where her mother found it difficult to access the pool due to a corroded chair and the lack of wheelchair-accessible sunbeds. As a result, the celebrity had to pay additional fees to ensure her mum could have a pleasant time.
‘It’s just awful. My mother burst into tears and was having panic attacks.’
She added: ‘Don’t advertise yourself as disabled-friendly if you’re not. It kept me up at night worrying about her.’
Imogen also admitted that another worry is the cost of caring for her disabled mother.
She openly shared that she’s had to dip into her savings and resort to crowdfunding on GoFundMe to cover the costs of specialized equipment and treatments. Despite this, she acknowledged that she considers herself fortunate for having the option of private healthcare.
‘The thing is, it costs thousands. It’s not a little thing.’
‘I never thought I’d be in a position where I’d have to think about these things.’

‘If she wants to go out for a meal then we do because it brings her happiness.’
But she explained that people’s treatment of her mother has knocked her confidence.
‘No one is outright rude but they stare and that’s almost worse.’
‘My mum gets really embarrassed and people’s treatment, it can be so undignified.’
She revealed it upsets both of them and described it as an ’emotional rollercoaster’.
She mentioned that her mental state is quite weak due to the change from being mobile to using a wheelchair.
Imogen revealed her mother’s diagnosis on Instagram nine months ago in a heartbreaking post.
Speaking openly about her journey battling Motor Neuron Disease (MND), Imogen shared a collection of videos and pictures, stating that she was inspired to make this public after witnessing the heart-wrenching narrative on Coronation Street where character Paul Foreman was also diagnosed with the same condition.
On January 4th, Imogen shared: ‘It isn’t simple to express this truthfully. Exactly half a year ago, our mother received a diagnosis of Motor Neuron Disease (MND).’
‘For those who are not aware of MND, it’s an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves.’
‘It causes weakness that gets worse over time. It’s rapidly progressing, life-threatening condition that affects six people in the UK every single day. The worst part is there’s no cure.’
‘It’s been a journey we never expected and hoped it would never be.’
Instead of adding, Imogen expressed that by disclosing Janet’s MND diagnosis, she aims to increase knowledge about the disease and facilitate connections between her mother and individuals who empathize with her experience.

It seemed as if we were observing an emotional roller coaster that was ours, experiencing the highs and lows as we tried to understand the situation.
‘Can you believe we went through three misdiagnoses? Spent a fortune in Harley Street to be told anything but MND.’
Initially, we took the step of admitting my mother to a rehabilitation center in Leeds for a month, holding onto hope that she would undergo a remarkable healing process. This was after she was diagnosed with Functional Neurologic Disorders (FND), a neurological condition. Reflecting on it now, her resilience and dedication during the rehabilitation period were truly inspiring.
My sister and I are deeply shocked and finding it difficult to accept. The reality of the situation is hard for us to comprehend. We yearn to find it untrue.
‘I’m fortunate to have wonderful friends like my mom does. It would be fantastic if we could meet others in similar circumstances to swap stories, offer advice, and provide mutual encouragement.’
