Michael Madsen files for divorce from wife of 26 years

As a seasoned movie buff who has witnessed the highs and lows of Hollywood, I find myself deeply saddened by the news of Michael Madsen’s divorce. The man who played Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs, Virgil in Donnie Brasco, and Tobias Beckett in Solo: A Star Wars Story, is now battling personal struggles off-screen.

“Reservoir Dogs” star Michael Madsen has filed for divorce from his wife of 26 years.

The performer, known for roles in multiple Quentin Tarantino movies, attributed the breakup to unresolvable disagreements. However, he added, there’s a deeper story behind it.

Approximately a month ago, an incident report led to Madsen’s arrest in Malibu due to a domestic disturbance. Subsequently, the Los Angeles County District Attorney chose not to press charges against Madsen because there wasn’t enough evidence to support it.

On Wednesday, a court document was submitted to the L.A. County Superior Court by Madsen, who stated that he and his ex-spouse DeAnna Madsen parted ways in January 2022, following the passing of their son Hudson. The couple tied the knot on April 15, 1996.

In his statement, attached to the divorce filing, Madsen, aged 66, stated that the reason given in the Petition as ‘irreconcilable differences’ does not accurately represent the situation. He clarified that he has been separated from the Respondent since his son took his own life on January 25, 2022. Madsen believes that the Respondent’s negligence, excessive drinking, and alcoholism may have driven their son to suicide.

As a dedicated admirer, I’d like to share a perspective on a statement made by an actor renowned for his roles in “Donnie Brasco” and “Thelma & Louise.” He mentioned that DeAnna Madsen, my co-parent of two wonderful grown-up kids, played a substantial role in some personal challenges I faced.

He described himself as a victim of an abusive, codependent, and toxic relationship that reached a point where the other person broke into his home and falsely accused him of domestic violence, resulting in his wrongful arrest. When someone is imprisoned, it’s usually the end of their marriage or relationship, and for him, it marked the end of our union as well.

Perry C. Wander, Madsen’s long-term lawyer who handled the domestic violence case, further claimed in a statement to The Times that the marriage between Madsen and his spouse deteriorated following their son’s death. The marriage allegedly concluded when Madsen was falsely accused of domestic violence during an incident where he attempted to get his separated wife, DeAnna Madsen, to leave his residence after she had broken in. In response, Madsen – whose criminal case was dismissed – has requested a temporary restraining order against DeAnna Madsen.

Michael’s excited about bonding with his kids and working on acting and poetry now that he’s out of a harmful, violent relationship, according to Wander.

DeAnna Madsen declined to comment promptly when The Times asked about allegations that she hadn’t broken into her family home.

After the actor’s recent arrest, DeAnna Madsen stated that she and her kids have been offering him help as much as we could.
