Strictly’s Will Mellor responds to “messy” sex scene in returning UK drama
As a long-time fan of British dramas, I must say that Will Mellor’s candidness about the “messy” sex scene in The Teacher is both refreshing and amusing. His years of experience in the industry have clearly given him a unique perspective on such scenes, as evidenced by his light-hearted take on the often tense situation.
The Teacher spoilers follow.
Will Mellor, known for his role on Strictly Come Dancing, has spoken candidly regarding a “disorderly” love scene that reappears in the upcoming show The Teacher.
In the second season of this intriguing anthology series, I find myself immersed in the story of Dani Osborne, a dedicated teacher portrayed by Kara Tointon. This time around, her life takes an unexpected turn as she becomes entangled in a romantic affair with her fellow educator, Jimmy, played by Mellor. The tension and drama are palpable!
Unfortunately, disastrous events transpire if the duo choose to secretly engage in sexual activity at the boathouse, resulting in a student’s disappearance during their absence.
In a candid disclosure, Mellor shared that during filming, they aimed to make the scene appear spontaneous and authentic.
You understand, don’t you, that sex scenes often fall short of being sensual? In our case, we found ourselves chuckling instead. Despite this, I must say, Kara is delightful and I’m grateful to have collaborated with her.
As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that I had the privilege of working with an intimacy coordinator for the first time on this series. It was truly enriching and added depth to my understanding and execution of the scenes.
Mellor mentioned that it’s crucial for less experienced actors and actresses, who might not realize what they can request in a filming environment, to have an intermediary who can initiate discussions about boundaries, ensuring comfort for everyone involved.
In a subsequent discussion with Tointon, he mentioned, “I expressed, ‘I’m comfortable with everything. I’ve been through it before.’ I played my first gay role on The Street, where I was entirely exposed with Vincent Regan. That happened quite some time ago.
Experiencing that was genuinely thrilling, despite being rather frightening. It marked a significant advancement for me. Working with the intimacy coordinator was delightful, and now I see clearly why they’re essential. I believe it’s crucial to assess each situation carefully.
Meanwhile, Tointon recently revealed she was “overwhelmed by the drama” of The Teacher.
The Teacher airs on Channel 5 and streams on My5.
