Harlan Coben and Doctor Who stars’ new London-set thriller gets first look
As a longtime fan of British dramas, the announcement of “Curfew” on Paramount+ has sent chills down my spine! With a stellar cast that includes Sarah Parish, Mandip Gill, and Alexandra Burke, I’m already hooked. The concept of an alternate reality where men are subject to strict curfews is intriguing, to say the least.
As a longtime fan of both British television and compelling storytelling, I am genuinely excited about the upcoming series “Curfew” on Paramount+. Having enjoyed Sarah Parish’s performance in “Stay Close” and Mandip Gill’s work on “Doctor Who“, I can confidently say that their collaboration in this new show promises to create a captivating viewing experience for audiences like myself. The intrigue surrounding the plot and characters is palpable, and the first-look images only fuel my anticipation. With a rich background in TV drama, I eagerly await the series’ release and the opportunity to immerse myself in another gripping story brought to life by talented actors such as Parish and Gill.
The thriller series is an adaptation of Jayne Cowie’s novel After Dark and is set in an alternate reality where all men live under The Women’s Safety Act and are therefore subject to a strict overnight curfew, with their movements tracked by an ankle tag.
The six-episode sequence commences by uncovering a female corpse. Tragically, this woman was viciously slain during the imposed nighttime restrictions and abandoned at the entrance of a Women’s Security Hub. Longtime police officer Pamela Green (Parish) is summoned to examine this grim scene.
As a gamer, I was proposing an idea that a man should be held accountable for ensuring women’s safety, but my suggestion was dismissed. Instead, it seems like the implementation of a strict curfew system is deemed the most effective way to maintain safety for us women.
“Should Pamela successfully demonstrate that a man is responsible for this murder, it might lead to the collapse of The Women’s Safety Act,” the show’s summary states.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m on the lookout. Those pulling the strings behind the scenes are dead set on ensuring the city-wide curfew goes smoothly, and they won’t hesitate to pull out all the stops to keep me from uncovering the hidden truth.
In the case, rookie officer Eddie, portrayed by Mitchell Robertson from Mayflies, assists Pamela. Meanwhile, the character Sarah, who works at a Women’s Safety Center, played by Gill, becomes central to their inquiry as she is deeply involved.
Alexandra Burke portrays Helen, a dedicated neighborhood school teacher and confidante of Sarah, who champions the implementation of a nightly restriction.
Additionally, the ensemble features Bobby Brazier, Anita Dobson, Larry Lamb, and Lucy Benjamin from the long-running soap opera “EastEnders,” as well as James Craven, a former cast member of “Coronation Street.” Furthermore, Imogen Sandhu, who recently graced the screens of “Casualty” as a guest star, is also part of this group.
In addition to Alice & Jack’s Tommy McDonnell, Adam Korson from “This Is Us” and the actress Amy Louise Pemberton known for her roles in “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and “Man to Man,” Selorm Adonu and newcomer Raphael D’Alterio have also joined the group.
Curfew will stream on Paramount+ this autumn.
