10 Dragon Ball Characters With the Strongest Potential

Not all characters start with the same abilities, and some are naturally more gifted than others. While dedication and effort can overcome almost any disadvantage, if everyone worked as tirelessly as Goku, the main character, his special talents wouldn’t seem so important or unique.

Even though characters like Goku and Jiren are incredibly strong, fighters such as Gohan and Vegeta possess a natural potential that surpasses everyone else. Goku may have been a gifted fighter from the start, particularly compared to other humans, but these other characters are either born with much greater power, or they achieve significant improvements with very little training.

Vegeta Became the Strongest Known Saiyan When He Was Still a Child

Vegeta, the proud Prince of all Saiyans, has always lived up to his reputation as a powerful elite. Even as a child, he was stronger than his father, King Vegeta, and reached a power level of 18,000 before he even began serious training or benefited from the boosts he gets after recovering from injuries.

Vegeta has spent decades relentlessly training to improve himself. While Goku believes anyone can overcome natural limitations with enough effort, Vegeta actually holds a slight edge in power when comparing their normal, base forms.

Cabba Held His Own Against Vegeta Until He Went Super Saiyan

Fans often playfully mention Base Cabba’s strength, and for good reason. Even though he couldn’t transform into a Super Saiyan when he first appeared, and his universe was mostly peaceful, he still managed to fight surprisingly well against Vegeta during the Tournament of Destroyers.

Vegeta helped Cabba quickly become a Super Saiyan, a first for his universe. Then, during the Tournament of Power, Cabba achieved something Goten and Trunks haven’t: he transformed into a Super Saiyan 2.

Caulifla Effortlessly Reached Super Saiyan 2

Caulifla is the leader of the three Saiyans from Universe 6 and their most skilled fighter when it comes to technique. She’s essentially Goku’s equivalent from another universe. After hearing about Super Saiyans, she quickly mastered the transformation, and then just as easily reached the even more powerful Super Saiyan 2 level.

Caulifla is a dedicated fighter who clearly puts a lot of effort into training. What’s really remarkable is how quickly she masters new transformations. Considering she’s still quite young compared to the established Z Fighters, and the fact that she’s stronger than Cabba, she actually surpassed the power of Vegeta in his base form during the Universe 6 arc – even after everything Vegeta had already accomplished.

Piccolo Caught Up to Goku and Vegeta Once His Full Potential Was Unlocked

Piccolo was born just as the villain King Piccolo was defeated. By the age of three, he had become one of the strongest fighters on Earth, second only to Goku. After training with King Kai for a short time, he felt ready to battle Frieza. When he merged with Kami, becoming the original Namekian, he briefly surpassed even the Super Saiyans in power.

The movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is all about Piccolo finally reaching his full power. For a long time, Piccolo had been overshadowed by the Saiyans like Goku and Vegeta, but he finally achieves a similar level of strength, becoming what fans call ‘Orange Piccolo’.

Pan Will Grow Up to Be Even More Overpowered Than Gohan

Pan, the daughter of Gohan and granddaughter of Goku, has incredible potential due to her Saiyan heritage. Even if her personality wasn’t as much like Goku’s as Goten or Trunks, she was still destined to become more powerful than them, based on how Saiyan strength is inherited in the series.

I’ve been watching Pan grow up throughout the Dragon Ball series, and it’s been amazing! Even in Dragon Ball Super, she was flying into space as a baby and started training with Piccolo before she could really walk. By the end of Dragon Ball Z and after the events of Super Hero, she was already beating Goten in a fight, and she did all that in under a year! Then, in Dragon Ball GT, she was a nine-year-old dealing serious damage to someone as strong as Majin Buu, all without any transformations. She’s clearly a powerhouse in the making.

Uub is Kid Buu’s Reincarnation and Goku’s Chosen Successor

Uub is a Dragon Ball character with incredible potential who hasn’t quite reached it. Introduced as the reincarnation of Kid Buu at the end of Dragon Ball Z, he was meant to be Goku’s successor, but he hasn’t had many opportunities to fulfill that role.

Uub showed promise in Dragon Ball GT. Although he couldn’t defeat Baby, his fusion with Fat Buu transformed him into Majuub, making him the second most powerful being in the universe, stronger than all the Saiyans except Goku.

Kale is Broly’s Multiversal Counterpart

Kale, a Super Saiyan from Universe 6, is incredibly powerful. She’s already one of the three strongest fighters in her universe, even when holding back. But when she transforms into her most powerful form – a transformation she didn’t even have to train for – she becomes stronger than almost anyone in the entire multiverse.

Kale was a powerful force in the Tournament of Power, unleashing a devastating rampage that only Jiren could stop. Even without her full power, she and Caulifla pushed Goku to his limits, and she was clearly the main source of strength for their combined form, Kefla.

Gohan Doesn’t Need to Train to Outpace Goku and Vegeta

Gohan, the first being born from a Saiyan and a human, possesses a hidden power exceeding even that of Goku and Vegeta. When he was just four years old, his intense anger briefly made him more dangerous to Raditz than either of the seasoned warriors, even though he hadn’t trained at all. By the age of ten, he had already become a formidable fighter.

Gohan consistently proves that even with long breaks from training, he can quickly regain the power levels of Goku and Vegeta – often in just a few days. His rapid progress, seen both during his preparation for the Tournament of Power and when he unlocked his Beast form, suggests that Gohan has the potential to become stronger than anyone if he truly dedicated himself to it.

Broly Was Born to Be the Strongest Saiyan in Existence

Broly was originally designed as the ultimate powerhouse in the Dragon Ball Z series – the legendary Super Saiyan said to be the strongest of all. This remained true in Dragon Ball Super; despite all their training and achieving god-like power, Goku and Vegeta were easily defeated by Broly when they first fought him.

In his first movie, Broly easily defeated the Gods of Super Saiyan, and only by fusing into Gogeta could Goku and Vegeta manage to stop him. Broly possesses immense, raw power that, without control, could destroy everything in the multiverse.

Frieza Was the Strongest in the Universe Before Ever Training a Day in His Life

For a long time, fans of Dragon Ball Z didn’t know how Frieza became so powerful – he just was. Dragon Ball Super explained that he was naturally born with immense strength, and that even a little training makes him incredibly dangerous. This made it clear that his potential far surpassed any other character in the series.

Frieza’s power grew incredibly quickly. After just four months of training, he went from being weaker than even the most basic Super Saiyan to being as strong as Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta. Now, after ten years of training as Black Frieza, he’s become powerful enough to defeat both Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta in a single blow.
